Muffler swap for sound

Ive got a 05 GT convertible with stock muffler right now, my father has a 2001 cobra svt, whe. He just upgraded his mufflers and gave me his stock ones, I was womdering whats going to give me a better sound and if it will even fit on my 05.

I have an 07 gt convertible I have ford racing gt500 mufflers on it, I like the sound they make. I’m not sure the 01 mufflers will fit without cutting and welding . Check part numbers for stock 01 and 05 see if they are the same. Rockauto.com makes that easy.

No, they won't fit.

yeah 05+ mufflers mount behind the axle.

IIRC 04 and earlier mounted ahead of the axle, which gave the exhaust a specific tone not able to be matched via s197 exhaust

Look on your local CraigsList for 2001 Mustang exhaust parts...I always score deals where owners are garage selling their old parts for space, or to buy more.
