2014 mustang v6 5-speed manual transmission. Replaced the ignition switch and keys; cars antitheft was on and now is turned off. First time turning over the car and removing the key the dash light ls stayed on and only stayed on the first time the car started. Fuses are good. starter spins and activates so the starter is good. Car will attempt to fire up but it won't. Exhaust manifold is clean and good. I have yet to check the fuel pump or fuel filters. I think it might be the PCM (car never had issues with shifting or electrical before antitheft shutdown so I have the benefit of doubt). One of the sensors maybe? If there's a short where could it be? I called a mechanic and he said he think it's a short or timing (90k miles on the car I don't think it's timing). Mods: cold-air intake, roush exhaust system(highly doubt that's an issue), a/c deleted.

Just a wild guess on my part, but it sounds like a PATS related issue.

Why were the switch / keys replaced? Were the keys programmed & tested?

Be patient, they’re lots of guys on here with a wealth of knowledge on the subject. Sadly, I’m not one of them.

Hopefully my post will bump you along.

Have you tried to scan the car to see if any trouble codes are stored? Sounds like PATS is active.

Here's an online manual. https://iihs.net/fsm/?d=0; Use the 2011 version.

I'd start with Powertrain Control/Emissions section. Then Symptom charts: SECTION 3.
Find crank/no-start - https://iihs.net/fsm/?d=505&f=Symptom Charts.pdf&p=13
crank/no start Chart 3: https://iihs.net/fsm/?d=505&f=Symptom Charts.pdf&p=21
Then follow references to pinpoint tests; you may have to hunt around as several of the pages are out of order.

Manual also references anti-theft as an issue. Other possibilities mentioned are fuel/spark but since you changed keys/ignition I'd say that's still the most likely candidate. What's puzzling however is usually PATS disables the starter so it shouldn't crank at all. Best if you can get codes to help narrow down what the issue is.

Search web/youtube to see what you can find for your year/model regarding PATS and how to do the relearn procedure and ensure it's operating properly.

Also a doc on PATS you might find helpful:
