Im thinking about ordering the BMR K member from American Muscle, unless you all tell me about a better k member to get, and noticed you can get them with lower motor mounts....wondering why thats offered? I'll be installing an On3 turbo kit on the car and wondered if getting a k member with lower mounts might benefit me. Only reason I can think of for the lower mounts option is if someone was going to install a big roots SC or raised intake.
It’s says it’s for hood clearance for bigger SC’s or for long tube header clearance in the description
Your comments are correct for the Super Chargers and Long Tube Headers. I will suggest reaching out to Beefcake racing or Lethal Performance to purchase before buying from American Muscle.
I first just got the BMR lowered engine mounts and now have the full BMR K-Member with lowered mounts. Needed hood clearance for air intake tube (installed the 2018 manifold and it has different throttle body mounting angle than the original manifold). K-member also provided good clearance for the long tube headers. Also recommend getting the BMR: Radiator Mount, K-Member to Radiator Mount connector and the A-Arm connector. Yes, order directly from BMR, definitely not CJ.
Anyone lower the engine, just for the sake of lower COG, even if you didn't need extra hood clearance? Does your oil pan hang down below the K-member?
All the above reasons, plus - lowering of motor mounts aligns drive train, when running solid driveshaft, resulting in numerous benefits. A biggie for me.
Although both Lethal Performance and UPR are located in my county, they are horrible to work with. We drove to see both after Lethal Performance stated they had a shop we could come visit. It was a small sweat-shop style small office space with Walmart desks and clueless “kids”. They had minimal knowledge of what they were doing or selling. UPR was actually worse knowing selling bad product which does not fit. We purchased a UPR K-member from Lethal performance prior to speaking with BMR. That was a big mistake; the K-member was scratched up, missing some hardware, and did not fit. I never would have thought they would have packaged up crap, so I did not inspect when we picked it up from UPR directly. Then we purchased a mid pipe from eBay which did not have the pick up address until the auction ended. To our unfortunately surprise it was another UPR product. Since we had now learned to inspect at pick up, we did and were lucky to have done so. It had the worst amateur welds, the mount holes were covered, and there were future rust pockets. They found a “good” one after a linger that’s needed debate. I hope to never make another UPR purchase mistake. The odd thing is I loved the high quality of their old fox body products, but apparently there has been changes at UPR. BMR is located not far from Orlando, Florida and is a mature & honest group. We purchased coyote motor mounts from them and had a lengthy conversation comparing suspension products. They then followed up by a detailed email. Bottom line is buy BMR, and do not waste your time with the others.
