Hi guys new member here. Just picked up a 2005 roush stage 1 from a family member. Been in the family since 2007 and has basically sat in a garage only getting maybe 500 miles of drive time per year. Everything but the hood scoop and wheels are original even the fluids unfortunately. Even the tires are from 2007 lol still look brand new somehow. IMG_0399.jpeg Over the last couple weeks I have had it on jackstands to replace the fluids and meticulously clean the engine bay, frame, and everything under the side skirts. The previous owner lives on a dirt road and even with extreme caution this thing was filthy. Luckily not a spec of rust.

Being new to this platform I’m clueless as to what’s next. My other car is 3000 lbs and makes 500 crank hp so this N/A 3v will need some help in that department. But also the solid axle with a squishy suspension and bushings starting to dry rot isn’t going to cut it. Obviously tires first. Any suggestions to get me going on a weekend warrior build would be much appreciated. I’m looking to make it as aggressive as possible and able to corner properly, but still streetable and without ruining too much collectible value. Money isn’t really an issue since this will be a several year project. Thanks fellas!

Welcome. Nice ride. Naturally aspirated?

Thanks! Yeah unfortunately the stage 1 didn’t come with the supercharger back then. It’s definitely high on the to do list. Not sure which one only that it for sure needs one

Nice Roush, welcome fellow Michigander. Where in Michigan are you located? I am in the Brighton/Howell area now but used to live in Port Huron

Thank you. I’m from milan. Had to look up what exactly a senior member was and holy crap, 17 years here is impressive. Didn’t even know what a forum was back then

Milan, so not very far from me. I haven't been to Milan Dragway since the new owners started running it. Hopefully I get a chance to try it out before the end of the season (have a rotator cuff tear now and I can't even pull my drag radials off the rack to mount them on the car!)

Thanks for the warm welcome. It’s good to know the s197 community is alive and well after all these years. I can already feel my wallet becoming lighter and that’s ok cause I’m doing all the things my grandpa wanted to do but didn’t have time for. The old man was at deaths door with advanced cancer but still would sneak off to Milan Dragway and run 13’s on his bone stock 3v. I know he had every intention on maxing the car’s potential so hopefully I’ll make him proud with some help from everyone here.

Welcome, from da hood - Flint area. Sweet ride!

My rear LCA bushings were shot by 2014 or so. Replaced those with UMI LCAs. They're boxed rather than stamped, and the bushing are polyurethane. My front bushings are pretty good though I've replaced the control arms. Suspension seems nice and firm.

Welcome Brother, Did you get your name from Chevy owners? I'm bout 75mi west of ya. My 07 gt suspension is very noisy but it has to wait till go fast stuff in on. These really do handle well.
