Sirius Radio option

I have a 2008 Shaker 1000 car with Sirius radio. I just bought another 2008 Shaker 1000 car that does not have Sirius radio. I’ve had satellite radio for so long that I had forgotten how lousy the local FM stations are in my area.

I would like to keep the factory shaker 1000 head unit in the new car. What are my options for adding satellite to it? I like how the new car looks without the satellite antenna on the trunk.

Would it be worthwhile to swap parts from one car to the other. Can a factory antenna be mounted somewhere else?

I wouldn't go that far...I think most people (like me) us the "new posts" function and yours was the first on the list.

Having said that, here's a bump and a similar situation. I know back in the day you could get a Sirius-specific device, that utilized the existing sound system (IIRC it plugged into the AUX jack, like an iPod), but you are correct, that you'd have to add the satellite antenna.

My issue is I'm looking to replace my Shaker500 *with* Sirius, since the 6-disc crapped out, like they all do. So going with a different head unit that supports backup camera as well. My question is whether the Sirius account is linked to the VIN, or radio ID. If radio ID, how do you transfer it to a different head unit.

A quality reputable local stereo shop can do about anything you want with a sound system. If your good with electronics then Crutchfield has some good stuff.

I use the Sirius app on my iPhone and connect to the aux in. I'm no an audiophile but sounds good to me.

Sorry if I violated any rules. I joined 17 years ago. I must have missed that terms and rules update from 2017.
