Yeah...pics. The worst thing I've had to remove is baked on tar. Was on 80% of my z71 Sierra.

Was gonna do a quick wash before taking my gf...3 hours later and a pissed off gf we finally went out.

Worst comes to worst you can always wet sand it like mentioned.

DA is very simple to use, and a light polish will most likely remove whatever it is you ran over. Remember, you will need to go back over and refinish the areas though, as the removal of said "tar" will marr the paint.

Like Darren said WD-40 will take most tar and a lot of other crap off. have you tried it? Also try some 3m adhesive remover. You can get it at most any auto parts store. It could have been some construction adhesive turned over in the bed of some ones truck and leaked thru the tailgate. I've seen as all kinds of stuff get on cars. I bought a brand new truck in December and a week later was washing it and it had tar on every body panel, like it had been sprayed on it in a fine mist. Truck had never been around any construction or road work. Who knows how this crap gets on our rides.

Also Dawn is not advised to be used when washing a car. Use a concentrated citrus based wash instead. Dawn tends to dry out trim and rubber. It is too high in alkaline to be useful as a vehicle wash.

Products used with no results: clay bar (it just sticks to it and turns the spots into clay dots), Goo gone, 3m aar, WD-40, GAS, tar remover, paint thinner, and everything they sell at autozone and the dealership.

The best we have got was thinner, did not remove it but turned it white.

I'm so fucking sad about this shit. Anyone have someone they trust around Houston to do paint correction?

Have you tried picking at an inconspicuous spot? Just see if your nail will pick it off by chance. I had something similar on my car down by the wheel wells but I was eventually able to take it all off with a clay bar.

After a little bit of time with a speedy prep pad and pass of Menzerna FG400 I was able to get a lot of it. It will probably be 2 passes with a compound and finished nicely with a polish. Beast has an appointment to get this stuff removed and do a single stage on the whole car on Tuesday/Wednesday so I will keep everyone posted.
