Just looking for info on what others may have done after installing SPR cams. I just recently bought comp cams #127400 and I just reached out to bama about tuning and they said they don’t want to touch it. And that’s fine by me if I need a dyno tune to make them work no problem. The thing is though I’ll be doing the install my self at my house. For anybody else thats installed these cams them self’s at there house what was the procedures you did afterwards. Did you tow it to the tuners. Would you not even recommend turning it on without being at a tuning shop. I mean I definitely would like to turn it over and make sure everything is all good to go befor I buy a slot at the tuning shop. Just a little confused on what I should do in between this time window. But if I got to tow it over there then I will do what Ever would be recommended. Any insight on the matter would be greatly appreciated thanks

Those are the cams I put in my car. You will need springs and limiters also. If your computer savvy(I’m not) you can do the Lito thing. I have 100 mile one way towing with AAA so I just had them tow my car to the local mustang shop and had it tuned there. If you contact Livernois you can get PAC springs from them that are in between the comp 113’s and 125’s and are limiter friendly

Brenspeed did mine for the Comps 123000 VSR probably 10 years ago - still strong and run great. Installed them myself and they adjusted my previous tune for them by a sent file.

Appreciate the response everybody. So looks like I need to either contact Lito or tow it after install. I was looking into the Lito thing. Looks like if you have the sct x4 already then I guess you just load his tune on it. Well that’s pretty interesting I’m surprised he’s able to do that and there’s not software locks on it to prevent other tuners from accessing it ‍♂️. Seems like every one I seen doing it had the sct x4 I have the bama x4 . Looks the same wonder if I still would be able to install it on my version of the device.
I Checked out some other forums and I guess cause this guys down in South America he can wipe the O2 sensor codes as well. That really caught my attention lol had a check engine light on my car for the past 8 years I wouldn’t mind seeing gone. Only thing I don’t like about it is I guess the guy wants people to do a 2-6.5 Rpm pull in 3rd gear on the street. I’m a little iffy about doing that. Unfortunately my car is extremely loud and is a dedicated track car. And sticks out like a sore dink. I do drive it to events but I’m babying it all the way there cruising in the slow lanes behind grandma trying not to attract attention. Never had any issues befor. Even getting through US / CAN. boarders but yeah guess that’s a me problem. I’ll figure it out.

I may just see if I can get a base tune from the guy so the cars safe to turn over. go over everything make sure it’s all ok and I can just putt it down to the dyno shop afterwards when I’ve cleared my inspection of it.

Yea I already got the cams, springs. Limiters and a bunch of other stuff for the job sitting In my shop. All im waiting on is TTY bolts, and some new valve seals and spring compressor. and I’m good to go. I just got what ever COMP was recommending with them. Were you not happy with the comp springs or something? Why would you recommend PAC springs over beehives. Just valvetrain noise or something. You have my curiosity now

I see two simple avenues you can fallow. Purchase an SCT X4 form Brenspeed with a custom tune loaded in it for the cams you have chosen. OR, purchase an SCT X4 tuner and contact Lito for a custom tune. Lito will do a great job and work with you to solve any problems if any turn up. You will always have your stock tune and the custom tune in your SCT tuner and Lito will (for a small fee) adjust the tune for changes you make later. I have been happy working with Lito. As to the cams. Do not skimp on the valve train. Run the springs recommended by the cam manufacture. Install new FORD lash adjusters and followers with the new cams and springs. Probably a good time for a complete FORD cam drive set which means removing the front cover. :driver:

Thanks I Appreciate your input. So your saying the ( “bama X4” by sct ) would be obsolete now and I’d have to buy the actual Sct x4 tuner then?

As for doing all the timing ect. I have taken all this into consideration. Definitely not skimping out on any manufacturers recommendations and have every thing they recommended “ being from comp” It’s just So far I’m already about $3000 into this with what I have already. I’ve tacked on all that other stuff and it would put me north of $5000. I need to draw the line in the sand somewhere and my car only has about 160000km think that’s around 100000mi. If I keep shoveling money into this thing I won’t be able to afford to go out and travel and compete in the racing series this year. I can always come and revisit these matters another time. These cams where just supposed to be a treat for my self and the car in between all the other crazy spending I have do on this thing. I’m not getting into a rebuild here. Just had to dump $1000 on a new alternator 2 weeks ago from pa performance after getting a couple dud remands from the parts store. Not including a fresh set of racing tires I just picked up aswell list gos on man…

Think I’ll reach out to Bren though that’s a good idea. I’ll ask them direct if they can load on the bama X4

Going with Brenspeed instead of Lito is a big mistake.

Now that I think about it little more, I bought the cams from Brenspeed(best price) and they came with a tune. I bought my limiters and springs and valve seals from Livernois (best price) . PAC is just a brand, they are beehives also. Its a pretty straightforward job, valve springs closest to your brake vacuum booster were a little tougher. I drove it down to get a local dyno tune and they were able to get some more hp/tq out of it.
I did the AAA tow after I put the supercharger on it later. Also, with the PAC springs, you can re use the factory retainers

I suspect the X4 you purchased from bama is useful but I don’t know for sure. Contact Lito and tell him what you have and he will know if he can work with it.

Can’t find a email or phone for the guy. Doubt it would be a “big mistake”. I definitely think I’ll finalize it all with a dyno tune after everything is said and done. Just looking for a a quick base tune so I can get things rolling and make sure everything is good on my part befor hand

I know a dyno tune is cool. But from personal experience, Lito's tune was better than the leading 3v tuners of the time. (Triangle Speed, Bridge City, Texas) A real time tune will always be better than a dyno tune. Re: www.tudyno.com]

Not trying to make your life more difficult but adding an AFR sensor/gauge is a really good idea especially if you can get data off of it. Lito uses that info to modify the tune. There are a few manufacturers out there. I went with AEM. Took Lito 3 iterations (base tune +2 pulls) to get mine in order and I installed a blower. No problems; she's been running great for more than 5 years now. :snoopy

I bought all my mods from Brenspeed. SC, cams, LTH, other accessories, over $10k 7 years ago. Along with their tunes. When my car ran like shit and was constantly dying. I was told they couldn’t help and “ That’s just how it is with a supercharger and performance cams.”
Once I contacted Lito, my car ran perfectly and like a beast.

[email protected] and his website is https://tudyno.com/
You'll also find his phone number and his real name is Manuel Pazo.
Alright thanks. I’ll look into getting ahold of this guy once the rest of this junk I need for install shows up. Appreciate the contact info
