Squeaking windows

What is there to do (other than replacing the weather strip/seal) in the window channel? I lubed the rubber/vinyl with RV weather strip treatment, but even trying to let it sit and wipe the excess off, it streaked pretty badly. The squeaking is better (sometimes doesn't make noise at all) and after cleaning the glass with multi-surface cleaner (to get the petroleum streaks out) it stayed clear...

Any suggestions or experience would be greatly appreciated!
