How many miles are on the transmission? There's more than just the Slave/throwout that can make noise. My trans makes a little noise with 127k on it only if clutch is engaged at idle. Honestly sounds like just normal noise of an input shaft turning. Car is cammed so it has a little shake to it which can add to the noise. Now if I push the clutch in at idle it is silent. The input shaft is no longer turning and yes the throwout isn't turning either. But there's more than just that.

Also that one does not need shimming. I have talked to Lito and he said if you have the one from exedy you do not need to shim and should be OEM style like mentioned. Did you grease or anything on pilot bearing or slave throwout?

I will post a video soon. And yes I greased it. When I had the trans out the input shaft bearing felt fine. I dont think its the trans, but im not sure. It was fine for like a thousand miles and came back. Trans fluid is royal purple syncromax.

All guys will tell you to get rid of the royal purple on these transmissions. It tends to delaminate the syncros. Syncromesh is what you want.

Okay. Was just a thought. I hope you figure it out.

Really? Hm, Maybe its noise from the trans because it started doing this after a few months of having that in there. I changed all fluids right before winter so who knows. What would be ebst for trans fluid goes? I know about mercon but is there an alternative thats as good as what was engineered for it? Also, any additives that would suit the trans in a beneficial way to quiet it down?

I have always been told that the Syncromesh by I think penzoil if im not mistaken is amazing stuff! I currently use valovline in mine. Can't remember. Much cheaper than the syncromesh but I'm going to use that next.

A great guy to talk to is the guy that rebuilds at proforce performance.

Im going to attempt that then! I know you fill it til about a half inch/pinky below the fill hole. Isnt that a bit over 3 quarts? Price is not really a factor I just want it right and after reading all the things about syncromax I want to change it. Is there an additive that can be used to quiet it down? Like manybe substitute a quart of trans fluid for the additive? I have heard many mixed stories on this. But havent heard anything bad. Have heard that adding lucas quiets down transmissions (manual) but im not sure. Heck, even says it on the bottle.

EDIT: im actually going to try this and report back! https://www.americanmuscle.com/redline-mt90-75w90-gl4-gearoil.html
nothing but good reviews on this stuff

Do not put gear oil in your trans, you said you wanted to use what it was designed for...that would be Syncormesh. Per Tremec that is the best fluid for the trans.

You don't want to use the MT90... The proper Redline fluid is the *MTL*

    https://www.redlineoil.com/mtl-75w80-gl-4-gear-oil

If you read the details on the MTL it was designed as a replacement for the synchromesh. I use it in my TR6060 and it's been great.

They're both gl-4 and still have the similar viscosity at low and high temperatures as mercon. So, what a the difference between mt90 and MTL? I've read many reviews and forums on this certain thing and many have used mt90 bo problem

3.2 for the fill, I recommend Pennzoil syncromesh. I have used Mobil 1; Royal Purple; and now Syncromesh.

MT90 is much thicker. Really more for race use than street use in a variety of temps.

$20 says that’s why it’s rattling. My TOBs would always start to rattle after installing cams. Even brand new ones would start to rattle after a few hundred miles. I wouldn’t change it since the rattle will probably come back.

Can you explain the connection between camshafts and throw out bearings?

I have always had aftermarket cams and never had an issue with a rattling TOB.

Yeah that's my reasoning for going with it. It gets driven. But not in the winter

I would assume it’s because the idle is not as smooth anymore. Those engine harmonics are being transmitted into the bearing, causing it to rattle. It was talked about a lot several years ago.

I know what you are talking about. Also I think its more from the shaking or rocking of the car and motor. Kinda jerks it.

This, the crank "stutters" in it's rotation with a rowdy enough cam.

So change the trans fluid. Noise is mostly gone. The syncromax came out like freaking water.
