Im working on a billet/poly trans mount to compliment the motor mounts and help firm up the entire drivetrain. Most guys use the poly motor mounts and an aftermarket uca with a poly bushing but leave the soft rubber trans bushing in the middle which I have always felt was a weak link. Most trans swap kits for race trans come with a poly style mount so I been wanting to make one for our trans for awhile.
Hopefully it will be in the 50-75$ range, it will be a bolt-on direct replacement for the oem rubber trans mount. Ive already submitted my design for prototyping of the new mount so as soon as I get them in I will be testing them on different cars and hopefully releasing them for sale if all goes well.

Yesterday I was talking with the guys at my local transmission shop and we were discussing the motor mounts. Because the issue started immediately following my install of the BMR K member, a couple of the guys thought that was the problem. I decided to call up BMR and ask for some advice.

Kelly happened to answer the phone and I had a great conversation with him. He also said that the CHE brace sounded like a good idea, but he also said that it didn't sound like a torque issue to him. Peak torque is at 4250 rpm and the shifter works perfectly up to 6000 rpm. If engine torque was the issue then I would have lockout at lower rpm as well as in other gears. He said that he's wrecked at least 10 Tremec 3650 transmissions and each time it only took one hard missed shift and it never worked right again.

That would be consistent with my experience, I did knock down my best time in early January after installing the K member a week before. And two passes later is when I had the 3rd gear lockout for the very first time (I have the time slips right here in front of me). It's never been right since.

I may hold off on modifying and installing the CHE brace for now and have my transmission guy open up the 3650 first. If it's a synchronizer then the brace won't help.

Not power shifting, just shifting as fast as I can. As much as I beat on my car I don't think I would be willing or able to shift without lifting my foot off the gas, it just doesn't seem right.

I had same problem, trans worked fine till the first missed shift. I installed the CHE when i swapped to the 6060, to be safe. I think problem may be the pressure plates. When I used to do a lot of racing, The Chevy and Ford guys would use Mopar pressure plates. They were 3 finger instead of diaphragm, at high rpm the diaphragm would not release. I don't know if that is still a problem, but i still get lock out of 3rd with my 6060 if i get lazy and do push the peddle to the floor. just a thought.( I don't lift when i shift )

I have never had this issue, and I kill mine at 6500rpm. I also got a full engagement clutch, dont know if that would matter. If your on the stock clutch I would start there.

If you are going to open up the trans you might want to consider the g force upgrade http://www.gforcetransmissions.com/tran_3650.asp I've been looking into various trans upgrades and I'm going to go with this one in a month or 2. It has the best ratios I've seen on any bolt on transmission. The gaps from gear to gear are better than stock, 6060 or the magnum (if it ever comes out). The only possible exception might be the close ratio magnum but that has a 2.66 1st gear which is too tall for many applications. The g force kit is $1600 and comes with a 2.90 1st and a 26 spline input.

I'm not in a position to dump that much more money into it right now. If it comes down to it, I'll give up drag racing for a few months until I can dump a few thousand into it.
