I got an 09 mustang, with an Edelbrock supercharger, just had brenspeed Detroit rocker cams installed and a tune and dyno done. Question is, exhaust kind of smells like I’m burning race gas but I’m not. Is this a concern and should take back to the performance shop. Other then the car wanting to stall coming to a stop sometimes it runs great, no codes and performance is great.

thanks for any advice

Do you have an air/fuel gauge ? If so what is it running ?

Is it a Brenspeed tune? I have the Edelbrock SC and Detroit Rocker cams in a 05. It ran like complete crap with the Brenspeed tune. Lito finally fixed it for me.

No I went to a speed shop. Unfortunately I don’t have a air/fuel gauge?

Well, obliviously something is not right. With a setup like ours, the cars tend to run very rich. This was the problem my Brenspeed tune and others that I've seen online. Yeah it ran great, once it got completely warmed up. Like after 10 miles of driving, but until that it ran like shit. Mine had to idle for 10 minuets to get hot enough to back out of garage without drying. Get a Wideband O2 sensor installed and give Lito a call. You won't regret it.

I don't have an Edelbrock blower, but I had a similar issue. I had my car tuned after I installed my blower by a local dyno tuner, and it ran ok-ish when warm, but it ran awful when cold. Sometimes the exhaust was totally black when it was cold. I contacted my dyno tuner, and he proved to be of no help. So I contacted Lito and it's been worlds better since. So far, the biggest waste of money I've spent on my car has been a dyno tune.

So far, the best value for the money spent has been my Lito tune.

IMO if the car has forced induction a wideband should be installed.

Are you running cats? If not the exhaust smell is normal. If you are the tune is way rich.

The performance shop installed the cams and then did my tune and they had the specs for the cams. They were familiar with the cams

Just to clarify by smelling like race gas, are we talking 'raw fuel' or 'rich exhaust' type smell?

Rich exhaust smell. Only when’s it’s warming up. Apparently it’s more defined was its cold. Definitely thinking now the engine is running to rich

Is your local tuner a Mustang specialist? When I had my car dyno’ed, since I wasn’t having him tune it, he admitted he knew very little about Mustangs. He tuned LS engines and custom race engines.
Also did he tap into a O2 sensor to monitor a/f ratio?

Do you have the dyno sheet? Did they log AF ratio with a tailpipe sensor?
What are the numbers?
