Bluebonnet is 20 years old, as my various category-blatherings reflect.
I find myself the only retired cop, Mustangery Mustanger that ever Mustangered...
quality time left is short. I leave this story. I hope you enjoy it.

"On a cool February Friday night in 2005,

in Round Rock, Texas, I, retired Round Rock Police officer,
longtime police department spokesman and

loyal three-consecutive-generation Mustanger,

encountered "my" personal 2002 Mustang GT,

during a multi-agency, Austin area-wide, 'Alcohol Sales to Minors' sting operation.

It remains the funniest 12 hours of my career, that Friday night,

acting as the Handler for three Austin journalists (who became lifelong friends),
Greg Narag, of Austin KLBJ 590 Radio; Isadora Vail, of Austin American-Statesman,

and Marcial Guajardo, USMC, editor of the RoundRockLeader newspaper...

all in my unmarked police car, listening to a 'Tac Ops Channel' assigned to the counties-wide TABC et.al. operation,

and just telling jokes and generally enjoying the diversion of a low-speed operation, for a change.

Thus it occurred, in between driving around to sporadic arrest locations, all over Williamson and North Travis counties,

the Patrol Division Dispatch channel crackled:
"Round Rock (to) 1Adam2, units in area of Bowman Road, multiple citizen reports of reckless driver."

"One Adam Two enroute. 10-28?" (*license plate info)

"Round Rock to One Adam Two, negative....Standby:"

"Round Rock to 550 (that's me) on North Command,

can you start toward One Adam Two,
enroute to reckless driver report on Bowman Road?"

"Ten four!"

"Round Rock to One Adam Two. Ten-28 return."

"One Adam Two, go ahead."

"Ten-28 returns to a 2002 Ford two-door,

registered to

Unit 550."

"550...clear."

"Round Rock to units enroute to Bowman,

citizens report subject driving a grey Mustang is doing burnouts and donuts up and down the street
(narrow and residential)."

"Ten four, 550, 10-23 with units on scene."

The teen driver, in "my" 2002 GT,
went to jail.

The Nitto 285s were roasted to threads.

I had traded her in 4 days prior,

when taking delivery of my 2005 S197 GT,
christened "Bluebonnet",

at Mac Haik Lincoln Merc in Georgetown.

So it happened,
that the kid's dad took him used-car shopping that night, and...

the kid took his test-drive opportunity to the limit.

I could have internalized some level of humor, rich irony, but the kid had no respect for the car, knew nothing about it,
or anything else, for that matter.

Plant-IQ Twerp. If he is still alive,
he is in his 30s today.

It was a pleasure waving byebye as he was carted off to jail.

That was the last I saw of my 2002 mineral grey GT.

I hope she found a loving home.

And,

that's

The Rest of The Story.

Gooood Day!"
