I recently purchased a new 2018 Mustang GT from a dealer 5 hrs. away from me in Illinois (Fairway Ford). I drive with hand controls so had to have it shipped to me here in MN. It finally arrived here on truck yesterday afternoon. Driver was unloading and started it and immediately I could hear a miss in the motor. Should have made him keep it on the truck..
We unloaded and got it in my driveway. I looked and it had a check engine light. Hooked up my SCT and got 3 error codes
P0300 Random misfire detected
P0301 Cylinder 1 random misfire detected
P0000 Info not available
I contacted the dealership and they told me they had seen the light and changed the battery and the problem was gone. Sounds a little fishy… I asked if they ran any diag on it and had an error code, he could not remember. Should that not have been entered into the service records of the car?
But then he also stated there was a recent service bulletin to reprogram the Power Control Module and they had it in a few days ago to do that. They never mentioned any of this to me when I purchased the car.
I have an 8:00 Monday am apt at my local Ford dealer to have it checked out.
I’m calling Ford first thing Monday AM as well to file a complaint. I’m also going to contact my shipper to see if this light was on when it was picked up at the dealership, which I believe it was.
Started the car a bit ago again and got a huge backfire. Sounds like shit and running on about 4 cylinders.
We have not even driven the car yet!!! This sucks….
