Timing Set Costs What???

Wow, $600 for a timing set??? I don't remember how much I paid when I did it last time but I know it wasn't anything as eye opening. Just thought I would share my sticker shock. I think I'm going to pull the cover first and see if I can get away with just ordering a couple of components as opposed to the whole set.

Yeah between chain, tensioners, phasers, followers and oil pump, etc that’s what I was expecting.

Cloyes used to make good double roller timing chains but I always thought Ford OEM was the best for the 4.6L.

Contact Lethal Performance. They are a Ford Racing Dealer and might be able to get you a better price. Replace everything you can. Don't just do piece work. I can assure you that you will have to do the job again in the near future.

Yeah I agree... I am at 120K and every so often I hear a small tick on initial startup, so I know I have to do this in the near future.

I will definitely change everything (i.e. oil pump, followers, etc.) with OEM or performance upgrade, just trying to figure out which are best (oil pump, tensioners, etc.). I wish someone would post a detailed list of parts needed... FYI I will be sticking with stock cams & valve springs.
