My roush grill did the same thing, not that quickly but it is covered in rock chips. That maybe part of a metal grill like that on this type of car. I just pull it off every few months and respray it, but it just gets chipped up again.

I have been running this same grille for about a year with ZERO paint issues. For the price, the AM grille is a very nice piece. I am also running a center hidden fog light kit from ebay that is really trick. If you're interested:

I am however looking at changing things up a bit,and maybe going with the Boss upper/Roush lower grille delete, just because I'm ready for a change.

The 2013+ are plastic and you may be right about the 2010-2012, I had the Saleen on my 2010 and it was plastic.

Seems like the metal grills chip and plastic is the way to go. If I could go back I would do the saleen grill on my 2012 as I get sick of repainting mine.
