Im gonna ask this question here because it pertains to racing and didnt get any hits on the wheels section :/

Im looking at getting Advan RZ rims in gunmetal black for my perf white GT.

This is for looks as well as the lightweightness for my future road racing next year.

I am looking into getting 19x10 with a offset of +35. Wheel weight is about 19lbs.

http://f20.yahoofs.com/hkblog/svLD1...ap_20090601114548499.jpg.jpg?ib_____DTgWmj69G

couple questions.

1) Im looking at getting a corresponding sticky tire that will have a similar or slightly more circumference as my stock 17 wheel. Is there one that will fit the 19x10s? Because
a) wont running a larger circumference hurt handling performance because of more energy needed to turn the front wheels into the corner?
b) larger circumference means more power to turn the wheels. I also think the circumference of my stock 17s fit my wheel well perfectly since my car is dropped 2 inches from my TEIN Flex coils.

2) Im also looking to having a staggered tire setup, sorta like how the gt500's are. Same rim width but larger tire at the rear. What are my options are for this and is it a better setup than running the same tires on all 4 corners?

3) Am I right in choosing a 19 or a 18. 18s look too small for me. Just my thought.

I would like to have your opinions whether they pertain to my questions or not. Our road race community is pretty small and i am hoping to get some good feedback since some of you are seasoned road racers and know this car well. :) thanks.

Trust me when I say this, don't get 19's. Your looking at $1k every tire change for a good tire.

I can say that on a track car I would see a benefit in running the same all around because you can rotate them more. Yet at the same time, you can benefit from stuffing as much tire as possible in the rear so it's a catch 22.

If it's the same overall circumference and equal or less weight, I don't see how it would negate performance though. Also, most BBK's require a 45+ mm offset, and some even require a 9.5" or wider tire.

Don't run staggered if you care about the way your car handles.

I would go with 18s, especially if you plan on tracking the car... your tire bill will kill you. mostly because tires for 19s are alot more expensive.

i run 18x10s +41 offset all around with 285/35s and it works great for me

Amen... stick with 18" rims, and keep the tire sizes the same front and rear. Good, sticky rubber will go away on you like crazy on the track, and it's sooooo much cheaper to replace 17" or 18" tires than 19's, to say nothing of the reduction in rotational weight...

Larger tire diameters (OD) will effectively shorten your gear ratio, giving you a little more top speed, at the expense of acceleration. Most of the road-course work is done in the 45-150mph range, nowhere near the gearing-limited top speed, so I would prefer a shorter tire for just that little more grunt off the corner that you get with a higher numerical gear ratio.

Yep.

With my gear + wheel combination, i'm effectively running 4.30s... its nice through the twisties but as soon as i get to the straight away i have to shift into 5th gear considering my 4th runs out at about 125

Ok cool so I guess i'll go with the 18x10s. Tire-rack recommends going 285/40/18 Is this optimal or do you think i can go a little wider possibly. I have tein flex in the front and the coils are much less smaller than the bulky stock ones so im thinking i can get away with a little bit more fat width.

Also is the 35+ offset enough for the car?

Actually I think ill go with the 19s instead. :/ Granted I'll be paying a little bit more for tires. Some ranges of tires of the same model at tirerack are only $20 extra each which isnt too bad. Also, there seems to be a greater range of tires to choose from in 285/35/19. I also did some calculating and the circumference of the 19s is still less than my stock 17s!!! what the F!!
Now once my friend can get me a good deal on these rims then we're in business :)

Whata you guys think of a set of TMR 18 by 9.5?..They weigh in at 19#'s, offset is 45mm with a 7.2" backispacing

For $300 a wheel not a bad wheel

Any suggestions for my SLA setup other then $1000 custom wheels?

Thanks

PS i don't mean to hyjack this thread

Link? Info? Source? I know nothing about them, but the price is competitive enough with the FN01R-C, RPF-1 etc. that seems the more common choice...

I think we all need to pool our collective knowledge to come up with a fitment guide for track wheels with the different brake and suspension packages that are out there... I would love to find a 17" wheel that clears the GT500 Brembo package and the Steeda X5 balljoint, but NOBODY seems to know if theirs will for sure...

If your running a SLA setup then you can go much larger at the front but why choose to go 9.5? I would be trying to fit a 10.5 or 11 on the front, granted as long as your rear can support the same width.

I agree with Dave.

I do run a sla setup/griggs brakes...but what worries me is the exact measurements, since when i buy the wheels i am stuck with them.

18 by 9.5 in those TR rims Tirerack sells..or Enkei NTO3 if they fit would be nice..but a 18 by 10 would be better if i can get one around 20 pounds.http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Whee...orsport&wheelModel=MT1&wheelFinish=Matte+Grey

I can locate rims all day long in 18 by 11's that are pretty light for their size (20-21#'s)...But they cost $800-1000 each plus tires (5-6k for the setup) and are 3-5 weeks away.

Whata u guys think will work...>>?

I've talked to a few wheel makers but they seem unwilling to give out info specs.

I would hope from all that I have heard you would have more room up front with the SLA. I still have a Strut front with AST Coil-overs and am fitting 18X10.5 up front. 315's are on the car now with no rubbing.

You will need two different offsets front and rear for the wheels to fit properly. I wasnt thinking when I ordered these and got the offset for the front *35mm*, but the rear will need a 55 or so. to fit in the fender.

So what offset do you need to run upfront for it to fit 315s?
Exactly..I have SLAs..so i can run 18 by 11.5s but what erks me is payyin another $5000-6000 for wheels and tires that aren't any lighter then "normal" wheels..BUT the maker know what offset/sizing will work for my car.

So to fit some 18 by 10 wheels and say 295/35/18's, What offset/wheel specs do we need.?

Thanks

well, my 18x10 +41s with 285/35s all fit but if i went to a 295 i would need a small spacer to keep it from rubbing the strut housing...

Griggs won't hook you up with wheel specs for use with their suspension?

No..they don't have exact specs i guess..they call and order rims and leave it up to the wheels guys to figure it out.
