Nope not true. I have a 2010 GT denso alternator. Nothing to modify at all.

My car is an 07 GT.

Someone just told me the 05s and 6s are different. Now I'm stuck with this thing. Maybe someone on here will buy it

This doesn't add up, I just checked Tasca and Rock Auto and the 05, 06, 07 all call for the same part number. They do have different part number for 2010 for either manual or auto. (I would guess it's one way clutch related, but don't know for sure).

Ford made a major change sometime in early 07 on the heads, which I believe had a downstream effect on the thermostat housing and crossover AND the alternator/bracket. The alternator bracket for early 07 is flat across and later ones are arched up towards the throttle body. I don't believe a 2010 will work with 05,06, or early 07 alternators or brackets. Call Tasca.

I put a 2010 alternator on my 05. I have a Saleen so it mounts differently, but the connector is the same and it fit no problem.

I'm still wondering why your case was different. A few folks here have just dropped em in, easy-peasy.
