Last night I went to the track to test out my new mods, but I ran into an issue. It done something that I have never read about or seen happen to the MT82 6 speed. I have not had any issues with my tranny and it has 2200 miles on the car. But last night when shifting from first to second, it jammed or something going into second. Basically it went into second but made a load clunk, and just freewheeled like it was in neutral. So I let off the gas and proceeded to try and shift it into third and coast the rest of the way through the 1/4. I coasted onto the return road and looked under neath the car but didn't see anything unusual. I rowed through all the gears with the clutch in and everything seemed fine, so I went ahead and tried to take off in first. Strange part is.... I had all my gears and it shifted just like normal, but it has a whine to it now in 1-3rd. 4-6 sound just fine. I have no issues with getting it into gear at all.
Is there any way that I could have went past the throw of 2nd gear or the shifter failed and didn't engage 2nd at all? The shifter was in the correct position for being in 2nd gear, but there was nothing there, like it was in neutral. If so, do the after market shifters for these cars come with a stop like the old Pro 5.0 did for the T5's?
I had no issues driving the car 65 miles home last night after the races other than the whine now that is in 1-3. Tranny still shifts like glass. Kinda got me stumped here fellas. Any Ideas or guesses are more than welcome.
