Ok i made a trip to austin from dallas this week and ive got issues! Does anybody notice that when you get the fluid good and hot, the trans seems to get louder? After about 300 miles the thing is so damn loud im rolling the window down to drown out the noise. I do have an mgw shifter which helped strighten out a few things but its still hesitant to go into first gear sometimes(notchy) 1/2 shift is not always smoothe. I have 3300 miles on this car and im not impressed!!! Any other input welcome, i do believe my solid shifter mount transmits quite a bit of the noise, but its just one of many problems

Take it in. The trans suck. Hate mine too.

Mine is quietist when cruising on highway. Louder in the lower gears, silent in overdrive. Shifts like crap.

MGW provides a lot of extra sound barrier material with their shifters and their videos do a great job of showing where and how to use it. I had to go back in twice to adjust mine and get it right. The sound deadening material works great if it's properly in place without being squished.

I don't know squat about the newest POS Chinese transmission from Ford but on older units my mechanic (a die hard Ford fanatic) has always recommended using GM Syncromesh fluid. He gets it from the GM dealer, their prices are about as good as any around. I'll be swapping the fluid in my transmission this winter.

It is quite in sixth, and fifth is the next best, but 1-4 are so goddamn loud i wanna drive this car off a cliff. I have to remove my aftermarket shifter to take it in, and all they say is we have had no problems with that trans, they will blame the shifter if i go in complaining of shifting issues. Pretty bad you spend almost 40k on a car and they use chinese shit and zipties to hold it together!! FML

Normal. It has to do with how the teeth are cut in the transmission. Ford put a cheaper "utility" transmission in there to keep cost down. They do seem to be strong if you can get it to shift right, but a swiss watch they arent.

Waiting on Tremec to get off their butts and finish the S197 T-56 Magnum here. Nothing else will swap in and work with the electronics of the 2011/12's

Heard so many complaints amongst all the hype over the 11+ 5.0 Mustang- Maybe my reliable, quick, and nimble, '10 4.6/5sp is a keeper........

Yup, I'll never buy a new model in the first two years of production. If Ford's track record holds then they should have the bugs worked out of the new Mustangs by 2013.

I will say the motor is great , and I favor the way the 10-12 looks over the 05-09. but would it have been that hard to put a tr 6060 behind the 302 in place of the 3650 insted of the junker mt82, I understand there are people that have not had any issues and no complaints, and good for them but im not happy and think im gonna look into changing it out for something else. im gonna call george at mgw and see if anyone has loud noise complaints like i do ,or if there is any good solutions to making this thing quite down! im gonna upload a sound clip and you will notice how you hear the trans over my stright through exhaust. * has anyone tried the gm syncromesh fluid in this thing * very curious

my 6r80 in my 11' has been flawless. i traded in my first 2011 that was a manual for this exact reason.. got sick of all the issues with the drivetrain.

Sucks that you're having problems but lets face it, eventually you were probably gonna switch the tranny anyway. When I had my '96 the first thing I did was buy a Tremec 3550. Stock trannies are never worth a shit so...

If you are willing to take a loss and trade in for an auto, why don't you just install a tr6060?

That would be fine if you didn't need a speedo. At this time there isn't any way to make the speedo work. Plus you would need to change rear end gears to make up for the different tranny ratios.

hate to lose the warrenty, but the reviews on the 6r80 are awesome unlike the 5r55 piece of shit!!! from what i understand making the 6060 work in this car could be challenging, just due to the ecu, I like the idea in a previous post they made mention of the t-56 which is a bolt in job .

The auto cars are faster and more dependable.

Not faster, just more consistent. If the manual is still operational, it's still the king.

To the op, good luck getting the problems fixed, hopefully the new tranny comes out soon!

I love my MT82. Only issue I've had, which isn't trans related, is my pressure plate bolts backed out. Pretty neat transmisshun to me.

how much of a loss did you take on it? b/c im thinking about doing the same thing
i get a-plan.. i bought my black one for 31,100 and they gave me 28,300 for it. worth every penny... by this time last year i had : had the trans replaced...had a new clutch,pp, flywheel put in. got it back.. a week later i got the whole pedal to the floor issue then later that night the spider gears broke in the rear end. i was so upset i told my saleman to find me a grabber blue auto. this auto, while not as fun as a manual, has been flawless and alot of fun to drive. i dont regret my decision one bit. and i got out and run 11.9's all day long.
