I know quite a few people go back and forth on who should tune there car as well as the why behind it. There was an opportunity to do a side-by-side of two of the big names and I wanted to share my experience thus far. We will have more information to post with numbers (track this Friday if the weather is cooperative and a dyno soon as well).
I was propositioned by ALex to give Bama V2 tunes a try free of charge to see how I liked them even though everyone was telling me to go AED or VMP on the forums. I went to VMP's website and submitted my tune request and payment on 04/04/15; after that Justin said he might be able to get the tune out that day which was great news. We exchanged a few emails back and forth about the situation and my desires for the tune. Granted I am only a bolt-on car (JLT, Roush AB, and now the tune) but I still wanted it to be dialed in for what I use the car for. After that I started communicating with ALex as well because we discussed running the Bama tune vs. VMP and Justin was willing to throw my car on the dyno as well to see how they do (of course give both the opportunity to data log and revise). So on 04/10/15 I received a confirmation that my order has been placed with Bama and on Saturday I sent my tune request in. The following Monday (4/13/15) I received an email explaining that my tune was complete...I was thinking man that was fast. This is just to attest to the experience I have had with both companies and they're support of the product. The review of the actual tunes will be coming but for now I would like to share my experiences with both. We always have to take into consideration the size of AM vs VMP and circumstances that may prevent a speedy response. I do feel like over 5 business days is excessive for my simple tune requirements. I will report back when I get the tune from VMP and give my input on how the tune performs vs AM. As it stands right now my car is hauling ass on the 93 performance tune. I have 285/40/ZR18 Nitto NT555 and I can roll into the throttle second gear and lose traction around 4,500-5,000RPM (with 3.31 gears). So far Bama has really impressed me with the turn around time and the interaction I've had with several employees.
I am extremely impressed with the nature of my car and the drive-ability is outstanding with this V2 tune. Will be doing some datalogs later tonight as well as picking up some injectors for e85. Looking forward to getting the tune from VMP to share my impressions as well.
