Between my wife and I we were able to get the sleeve off and in the right spot on the IC pump. What a pita working that thing off of there was. VMP also got back to me via email and answered my questions about the bolts on the bracket. Wish I hadn't wasted so much time this afternoon on these issues but at least it is sorted now.

And why is the mother%#*++^^ boot seal around the shifter base always the biggest pain in the ass of the job?

Hamilton, did you add grease to the base of the shifter? Is all that dark stuff grease? That's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much if it is.

And yes the boot is murderous. LOL

The boot is so easy. Stuff it in so that the lip is under the metal of the trans tunnel, then slightly pull up, working around the shifter until the lip snaps into place. Takes all of 3 seconds.

No Darren I only put grease where the video showed, in the cup on the shift rod inside the base, and all over the shift rid inside the base. What you can see in the pic is what the top/handle part already had on it.

I'm not talking about pulling the lip around the body oprning, I'm referring to getting the bottom opening of the boot onto the channel on the shifter base. I had to drop the trans crossmember to lower the shifter again and work it on from underneath, as there was no way my sausage fingers were going to get it all the way around from inside the top of the boot. The part by the reverse lockout bracket was the worst!

Took it to a job site to check on a bid I put in for some tree work. The job site is a concrete plant. When I came out my car was covered in concrete speckles so I came home and gave it a quick bath.

Emptied my catch can. Had an amazing amount of water. I let it sit overnight to see if it would separate. Just a very minimal oil skim on top. I even took a torch to it to make sure it wasn't fuel...have to keep an eye on it.
