I am looking at trading my ecoboost F150 in for a 2010 gt500.

It looks like it will be cheaper for me both monthly and the amount I will owe.

The GT500 has about 10k lower miles than my truck. Is there any reason not to get a 2010 GT500?

I think I'm ok with that I know the Aluminum block is 100 or so pounds lighter, but I dont plan on tracking the car and cant justify the 7 grand premuim for a 11 and up gt500 over the 2010

I do plan up upgrading to the newer TVS off the 5.8. but I dont want to over step the limits of the stock engine.

I'd just run a good aftermarket tune, if that. Don't those cars make 552 or something? Mid mounted muffler cat back, stock h.

540 from the factory to the flywheel. Intake and tune and maybe a pulley change may be a better way to go for now for me. I just need to decide whether it will make me happy or not. Its about the same price as a decently equipped 2015 gt

I assure you you'll be happy, pulley might have you chasing the dragon with cooling upgrades. I'd say a 2013 intercooler pump would be cool but you'd probably have to make your own mount as I did.

I have no clue what suspension works on those cars, maybe factory is ok. I finally found nirvana with easy going Roush 427R springs and koni orange shocks and struts, steeda caster camber plates. This was on a GT-based car.

My wife is really trying to push me towards a used S550 which would be about the same price as the gt500.

But I bought a new 3v in 2009 and was never really happy with it performance wise. I am afraid I'll be in the same boat with an S550 until I am able to get a power adder.

The GT500 while it is much older and doesnt have as nice gadgets is already blown has a stout trans and is set up for more power easier I think.

but its older...

In stock form you probably won't like it. Add an intake, pulley, tune, and some drag radials though, and it will be a completely different monster.

I went from my 06 GT, to a 07 GT500 about 2 years ago and couldn't be happier. These cars are a blast and are very reliable.

I wouldn't worry so much about the 2010, if you like the way it looks go for it. Any year GT500 has potential to be crazy quick.

IIRC tunes were less effective for gains on the '10s vs. 07-09s. Pulley will give u more of course.

yea it seems tunes dont do much till you add a pulley at least. most are going from high 400's to low mid 500's with a pulley/tune.

I think I may do a bigger/better heat exchanger first since I am down in hot and humid Houston! If I end up buying the car

Factory Forged 4v. That's future cost savings right there, and peace of mind IMO. You know you're going to crank up the power level. The coyote is definitely ridiculous from the factory for how much power it can hold up. Knowing there isn't forged internals in it would always be on my mind right around 7k/rpm. Knowing for sure that GT500 motor is gonna take it, is worth it for me.

Plus, it's a GT500 man. I'd sell/trade my GT for my same year GT500 in heartbeat... even though my GT's faster :Moon:

Hell yeah! I won't lie though, I saw a 2015 GT with a GT350 body kit.. I almost humped it. They are sweet looking cars with some minor cosmetics, and the GT350 body kit just makes it look like a street terror. But if I were in your shoes, it would have to be a GT500. I don't want to dick around with starting from the bottom of the mod pool again, tired of it and so is my wallet. Give me a factory forged snake any day.
