Shelby rear brakes pads for sale, part number 7r3z-2200-A. These retail for $120, I can ship these for $90. Will fit 05-09 mustangs, might also fit 2010 but not sure. as long as you have blank rotors these are really good pads.

I'm surprised no one else uses PFC pads. I'm running 01's on my Stoptechs in front and 97's on my stock rears. These have been great. I ran the same combo on my '06 STi with similarly good results.

Here is a good article that I found...
http://www.essexparts.com/learning-center/cat/brake-pads/post/choose-brake-pads

But like Kaldar I have tried other pads...in my STI just not in my Mustang. From my experience EBC Yellows were pretty good at the track along with my DBA 4000 rotors. Right now tough because Im not really going to the track anymore Im just running Hawk HP+. Ive tried Hawk HPS but they were too dusty. Also have you looked into upgrading your brake fluid too?

I'm surprised I've never heard of them. I tried looking up parts on their site and with their "Find parts now" and it said "no applications" for an 07 mustang gt or shelby. Sounds like an error, if you have them on your stock rears.

Performance Friction doesn't make race pads for GT fronts - only rears. But they do make the for GT500 Brembo's.

Performance Friction is a very reputable company, but they are very "proud" of their components ($$$)

If you plan to road course your car - you can't go wrong with Hawk DTC 60/70, Carbotech XP 10/12, Performance Friction and Wilwood H or E pads. EBC just came out with a new race level brake pad - "BlueStuff", which has greater stopping power and durability than the "YellowStuff". EBC is providing me a set to test at VIR next June on my Corvette. Using Motul 600 or Super Blue ATE (DOT 4) fluid and stainless steel lines also makes a significant difference.

You guys are far more knowledgable than I am for sure.

Contacted Sam Strano today for the same setup questions and just ordered:
> Ferodo DS2500's for the front Brembos brakes
> Hawk HPS for the stock rear brakes

For track or street use?

For street use, the new stoptech pad is really nice! i'm not sure if they make it for brembo applications, let me check.

For track use i've had great success with the DTC-70/HT10, but beware... if the brake dust gets wet it will rust on you!!!

Yes, my brake dust turned to fucking rust.

That's because it's not just pad dust, it's rotor material too as you are running very aggressive pads.

I sell the entire Hawk line, but also have other pads as well. For a dual purpose pad on cars that have GT500 front brakes I recommend Ferodo DS2500's. Eventually as you gain experience you will likely need more pad, but they are great track day pads and can be driven on the street too.

I often team them up with either HPS or HP Plus rears. Ferodo has no rear pad for the Mustang.

You can see the pads here: http://www.stranoparts.com/searchbymodel.php?CategoryID=8&ModelID=5

I'm adding more as I can.... There are a number of pads not yet up there for the GT500 fronts. I add them as I can. Between Ferodo, Hawk, PFC, and Porterfield there are many options. I can also get, but usually don't, EBC as well.

I also have the GT500 Brembo fronts and for my first season (the year before last) Sam fixed me up with the Ferodo DS2500s and Hawk HPS. They worked well and lasted the whole season of about 8 full track days. The only concern I had with them was the noise on the street.

Last year I ran EBC Yelowstuff for the start of the season and Hawk HP+ for the last half. My driving progressed to the point where the EBCs wouldn't hold up but they were quiet on the street. The Hawk HP+ held up well on the track but were quite noisy on the street.

Mine may be a special case because on the street I am very easy on the brakes and this seems to contribute to the noise as the 'bedding' wears off between track days..

This year I'm moving to Carbotech XP10 front and XP8 rear.

If HP+ held up, but EBC yellow didn't, that tells me that EBC yellow are not something I'd feel good with. HP+ are not track worthy, at least not on hard braking tracks. I can make a set live @ Nelson Ledges in Ohio, but they die in less than 5 laps @ Beaverun here in PA.

EBC Yellow are < HP Plus....

I'm also swapping to the Brembo setup next season, so I will have to do the math on cost effectiveness between rotors and pads, and then make my choice on compound. I have nothing but great things to say about both the Carbotech and Hawk race compounds, and will run whichever costs me the least for the season.

So have you decided what pads you are going to run next season?

Any specific suggestions from me with the GT500 Brembos and front brake cooling and about 8 or 9 planned track days. Realizing of course that my driving is at a lower level than yours. My plan is to switch to the track pads before the season starts and run them for DD use as well.

Up here in Canada the Carbotech and Hawk pads are the most readily available.

Not yet... I'm trying to get some longevity numbers from other racers on the pads and rotors, and then balancing the $ factor. Best price I've found is around $80 a pop for GT500 OE-style rotors, so I just quadrupled my maintenance cost per set... OTOH, I think they'll last longer than the stock rotor size. I briefly considered going to a two-piece, but $750 for the front set, and then $240 per friction ring replacement got way too pricey. I'll let you know once I get more hard data.

First off, a quick formula: "Late For Work" + "Panic Stop" + "Cold Race Brakes" = "Bad Thing." I wouldn't run race brakes on a daily driver, ever. They just don't stop the car well enough when they're cold. If your car is more of a "toy," that's a whole other deal, though. If you really do DD the car, I would just keep two sets of pads and rotors around, and change them for the track events.

Operating under that assumption, both Carbotech and Hawk make some pretty killer race pads. Either way, you want to run a split compound front and rear, with the rear stepped down one "notch." Carbotech XP12/XP10 is a great combo, very high MOT (high pad fade resistance), and outstanding initial bite. A little less initial bite than the XP10/XP8 combo that I ran before that, but also slightly higher temp rating. They wear a lot quicker than the Hawks do, but they're also a lot gentler on the rotors. The Hawk DTC-60 is also outstanding, but not quite enough initial bite for my tastes. If you're not looking for "launch you through the windshield" bite, the DTC-60 paired with HT-10 in the rear is an excellent, balanced combo. If I go Hawk, though, I'm stepping up to DTC-70 (same temp range, higher initial bite) in front, and going to DTC-60 in back. I have plenty of HT-10 pad left (almost new), so that will let me do some balance experiments.

Up here in Canada the Carbotech and Hawk pads are the most readily available.

Pretty much the same down here, too. Yeah, we can get Pagid, PF, and the "TechnicolorStuff" pads, but it seems like most of the racers are on Carbotech, Hawk, or Raybestos.

Even my TechniColorYellowStuff pads are notably less effective when it's cool and can be pretty bad when it's cold (brake ducting aggravates this)..and they're marketed as dual purpose.

Where are you guys getting your Carbotech pads at? Factory direct?

Personally, yes. If you are in a club, you can generally get a little discount. I used my NASA and MCSCC memberships to get a couple bucks knocked off. 5x racing sells them for a fair price as well here

Has anyone switched to the Bluestuff pads yet? I'm leaning towards those for my next intermediate step, prior to getting the carbotech/hawk and the spare set of rotors.

Gray Ghost mentioned getting a set. Any info on them yet?
