I want to start a company to make weight saving parts..... hmmmm

Rad support
rear seat deletes
light weight bumper beams
etc etc

Even though most parts are already available It might be cool. Im going to start digging down deep into my car for some more weight reduction stuff

Lift off front clip? :thumb::popcorneat:

Would probably be a PITA but maybe worth it? Could even make a rad support with it able to move the radiator further up for turbo cars needing the clearance....

Sadly no one makes titanium exhaust/headers for our cars. Theres just no market for extremely expensive exhausts here.

Yep..most folks crap their pants at the ~$1400 ARH/Kooks cost...I can't imagine what they'd think of titanium prices.

@dusterRT: I dont think u can make exhausts from aluminum? Its too soft. Titanium is MUCH lighter than the typical stainless steel used while holding heat and strength well. And it also gives it that sexy ass burn coat after its exposed to heat.

You can, and it has been done successfully, but it's generally a pretty poor material choice for a variety of reasons including corrosion and heat resistance.

Titanium is expensive and a real SOB to work with...believe me, if they could make the lighter, easy to work with aluminum work reliably in this application, they would!

you should Matt. The mustang community needs that. I came up with a plan and please for those of you that don't like it, don't comment. I am going to build my own exhaust system i'm going to gut the cats and straight pipe it. I will use titanium for it. I'm already talking to metal shops and trying to get some prices.

So now, as far as advantages and disadvantages, I think I may lose some low end torque but have nice gains up top of the curve.

I mean lighter than stainless steel. You know what, I'm not going to argue. It's funny when you ask for some serious input there is someone smack talking, but no offense taken. Anyways thanks for the input.

true ti is lighter than ss, but seriously a nice set of ss longtubes/mid-pipe is in the $1K range. If someone did make a titanium setup which there isnt't it would be well into the $2-3K range to save what 5lbs.

The stock block and heads are already aluminum.

Wow, there must be nothing in that entire car lol. Do you sit on a bucket?!

Actually... everything is in place still. I have corbeau fx1 pro seats. But like ive said before, when you look at my car you ask where the 400 lbs came out of? :thumb2:

I put the front tire wheel combo on the scale and it came to 68lbs that's with a 80% pirrelli and chrome wheel. Damn I didn't think they were that heavy

20lbs? What roll protection are you using? (no puns, gentlemen)

I think he means 20# gain after removing all the rear seatbelts, etc. That's roughly where I am at, though I completely removed the stock seat belts, child seat stuff, rear seat, interior quarter panels, etc. It's just bare back there. (no puns, gentlemen)

It's just a harness bar. I think it's around 20 lbs. All the weight savings of the seats and belts are in my first build thread
