the how wide can I go debate

Well, the car ran pretty good. I wasn't trying to launch too hard for the first time out at the track so best 60-foot was only 2.02. Best et was 12.43 at 117. Happy with the mph but now I need to get it off the line. The first run it roasted down as soon as I let out the clutch because I...

Also, I couldn't make it to Ennis (Texas Motorplex) this past Friday but after calling them Friday afternoon they have added a Fast Friday test and tune for this coming Friday 7 April and the weather, so far, looks to be perfect. My coworker is bringing their 2012 Automatic ZL1 so should be a...

the how wide can I go debate

Yesterday morning I ended up putting on Bridgestone S04 Pole Position, treadwear 280, $200 a piece from Discount Tire in Fort Worth. So, the size I went with is 265/45/18 and they look great, not too much bulge and fill out the fender well nicely. I went with 265/45 so its just a little bit...

the how wide can I go debate

Well, this is all a great read! I am also an engineer but I had never really looked into the best combination before on my cars. The stuff I work on flies high and REALLY fast so they have different tire needs. I did discuss cornering with a colleague who ran a 250 cc race kart that did a bunch...

the how wide can I go debate

Its an odd size, but to get a little bit taller tire in an attempt to get the car off the line I think 265/45/18s will work best. It just seems like 275 is too wide. My 255/45/18s should be 27.0 inches tall and the 265/45/18s should be 27.4 (used the Miata forum calculator, just the one I...

Wow. Those look good. But I do notice the 255s on my car now are even slightly pushing out past the rim (Continental DWSs). It gets really hot here, though, so I don't want to have a tire heating up the sidewall too much from bulging out that it causes a blowout.

My car has 255s and they just look skinny, Continental DWS. They just look skinny but I do notice that the sidewall is just about maxed out with the rim. Still trying to find a good side shot pic of these wheels with 275s.

the how wide can I go debate

With my work schedule I will only be making it to the track a couple times this year so the car is mainly my fair weather daily. Those 325s do look just about perfect on the 10" rim. I like 275s just because they seem more common but don't want the bulge. In my earlier Fox body days I had a...

the how wide can I go debate

I have factory 18 inch polished wheels on my 07 GT/CS. One tire shop told me the widest I can go is 255. But I think 275s will fit and seems like several on here are running 275s on their 18 inch stockers. If anyone has pics I would love to see them. Has anyone running 275s had any problems?

Faster Tire NT01 or MT ET Street SS

I am going through the same thing right now. Car is spinning on paved roads through 3rd because rears are down to wear markers. Someone also recommended to me some Nitto NT555 G2 tire. My car is putting down close to 500 rwhp but I don't want to run a pure drag radial since its my fair weather...

    Pinion bearing issue

I know its been a while. It was definitely the pinion bearing. It was very slightly scored and discolored from getting hot. And the culprit was the pinion was WAY too tight. After pulling the axles could barely turn the ring gear. Rebuilt by greenbullitt on the DFWMustangs.net forum in May and...

    Pinion bearing issue

Thanks Dubstep. but I am only driving it around local right now. Its definitely been getting worse so I have only been driving it once or twice a week to work which is only 8 miles away. And its only about 12 miles away to the shop where we will do the rebuild. Working 6 days a week just makes...

    Pinion bearing issue

Thanks, I had heard both good and bad about Gearheads. However you are the second person to recommend first hand to not take it to them. I am going to take it to a guy off the DFW Mustang forum that has done lots of gear installs. When I lived in south Texas I took my cars to Pyle Bros. in...

    Pinion bearing issue

Its a DynoTech aluminum driveshaft. Everything was already on the car when I bought it but that certainly could be the problem. I'll have to look up the details on that one.
