Engine Misfire after Hot Rod Cam Install

Before you get carried away, do a compression test. If cam timing is off on one side, compression will usually be significantly lower on one bank than the other. A lot of tuners disable misfire monitors on cam cars anyway. That lope you hear results in the crank angle sensor speeding up and...

    Dipstick hitting manifold

I've also cut a notch in the header flange for clearance. It doesn't affect sealing or durability, although the flange may be under tension and might 'tweak' when you cut through. Just snug the bolts up evenly and it will straighten itself out.

Failsafe mode after throttle body cleaning.

Battery disconnect might clear the KAM, but I always use a scan tool/ IDS or SCT handheld. Back to the problem. You solved the TB issue, but I think you are ignoring the other thing you did...clean the MAF. If the MAF is damaged, it will throw off air intake measurement...which is used to...

    Fuel pressure drops over night

Heat = too much resistance or too much load through that wire. Either there is a poor ground, you have a pump on its way out, or the relay used is rated at too low amperage for the application.

Car sat too long. A lot of random codes.

As for the smell and misfire, how old is the fuel? If it has been sitting 2 years, you probably need to drain the tank and clean injectors.

    Fuel pressure drops over night

Most pumps have a pressure relief valve built in. If you look at the top of the pump there is a small hole and you can see a spring and ball bearing in it. Other thing that might cause loss of pressure is a leaking injector.

    6R80 in my 05

The module has a diagnostic port, but the PCM does not support emissions related testing ( all catalytic converter tests / codes are disabled). So installing this in a post-1996 car is a no-no, unless for track use only.

    6R80 in my 05

Only issue is this module is meant for swapping into pre-OBD2 cars. There is no support for emissions ( can't pass smog on a newer car). And there is probably no way to interface body / ABS/ SRS modules without rewiring the whole car to newer (2011+ CAN / BUS).

    Combustion chamber damage

Again, weigh the price vs getting a new (used) head with no damage. If your heads have an expensive port job, they may be worth welding and machining. For a daily driver engine, just knock down sharp edges ( to reduce hot spots and detonation) with a flapper wheel, have the valves / seats in...

    Combustion chamber damage

Absolutely. If you just take material off during the process of smoothing out the damage (sharp edges that can create a nidus for preignition) the compression will be a bit lower in that cylinder. You may want to do all the chambers to equalize them. If you are really OCD, a good machine shop...

3V heads with tons of sludge

I've seen engines like that that had regular maintenance, often there is a history of overheating (cooling system issues) that accelerates the oil breaking down.

RE: Engine failures with PD superchargers

Actually on twin screws and PD blowers, there is a much more direct route. Shrapnel comes back up the intake ports and gets into the boost bypass valve, pulled into the back of the blower then ground up by the rotors. I've seen this on several engines. The intercoolers act as a pretty good...

    fouling plugs

Get a borescope (with 90deg mirror) and look at the valves after it sits overnight. If the valves look wet, then it is most likely guides or seals. Other trick to ID smoke source, accelerate up a hill with someone standing along the roadside. Turn around and coast in gear down the hill. Smoke...

I hope this insnt something turrible !

As mentioned, it sounds like piston slap. Find out if the pistons you used have a zero offset pin. These are generally used in race motors as the noise is acceptable or not as obvious with loud exhaust. The noise goes away once the piston expands with normal heat. Most street oriented engines...

2013 GT500 engine tick. Need some help!

Car running, in neutral, pump the clutch pedal. If the noise comes and goes with the pedal, it is the floater plate rattling when there is no load on it. This is normal for many aftermarket twin discs as they eliminate springs that more stock type clutches use to dampen noise.
