    4.6 3v thrust washer install

Just to have a conclusion to the thread. I spoke with King bearings through email and on the phone. They said that it is assembled correctly. I sent them the attached pictures as well. The one shows the king thrust washer and the stock one. Below is the quote from a king employee: "Yes as I...

    4.6 3v thrust washer install

Thanks for the insight msvela. The bearing set should be correct. The box has a description next to the part number that says "Ford V8 4.6L DOHC/SOHC 24V. I also looked it up in King's catalog and found below: I think the MB5283HP is just the "race" bi-metal version of the part numbers you...

    4.6 3v thrust washer install

I'm positive it wasn't line bored or the wrong bearings used. I bought the short block off of a guy that buys salvage vehicles and parts them out. The short block was stock when i tore it apart. The bearings should be good too, according to the King part number. Just so it's clear, the part...

    4.6 3v thrust washer install

Shouldn't be in backwards, i've got the grooves facing the face of the crank. It didn't look right to me, but i dont think it can go anywhere, and like you said it only turns one way. Was wanting to get an opinion from someone who has put 1 or 2 of these together, and if this was normal.

    4.6 3v thrust washer install

Forgot to include the King part number for the main bearing kit i'm using. It's MB5283HP. I'd prefer to just use this main bearing set. I assume King knows what they're doing, just not sure if the thrust washer is installed properly or not. Thanks for the info msvela Anyone have any experience...

About to start turbo build finally!

No you can't run regular gas in a high compression (15:1) engine like you can with E85, or it will detonate like crazy. The higher compression you can run, the more energy you can extract out of the fuel you burn, though there is diminishing returns the higher you go.

About to start turbo build finally!

What do you mean declining in production? I gave you the graphs that said the US made 506 million gallons more in 2015 than 2014, and 524 million gallons more in 2016 than 2015. That's an increase (of the increase) of 18 million gallons in one year. Also unsure of what you mean by can't even...

About to start turbo build finally!

No, science does not say you'll get 30% worse gas mileage with e85 at all. It says that a gallon of gasoline burned has 30% more energy than a gallon of e85 burned. Combustion engines only actually convert a fraction of that burned energy into motion. Cars optimized for e85 would be thermally...

About to start turbo build finally!

How do you know that? We've already increased production efficiency by much more than it used to be from corn. As you can see our ethanol production has risen over 7% in the last 2 years. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethanol_fuel_by_country Read the last section titled "What’s Next...

About to start turbo build finally!

Gonna have to disagree. I don't think it will be as mainstream as gasoline, or even widely used, but i do think it will be around for a long time. Reasoning: 1) I think flex fuel vehicles get worse gas mileage is because they are gas limited in their compression ratios. If they bumped...

is 3v explorer iron block direct bolt in?

ah ok. I can't say for sure because i haven't seen both, but the modular engine family was built with a lot of interchangeability in mind, so my hunch would be that it would bolt up just fine.

is 3v explorer iron block direct bolt in?

Is an adrenalin a truck? I've never heard of it. So you're saying you want to replace the aluminum block that is in the truck with an iron block if it is a direct bolt in? I would advise against it since a forged rotating assembly in any aluminum 4.6 would be able to take 600rwhp pretty easy.

is 3v explorer iron block direct bolt in?

I'm a little confused, why are you asking if the iron blocks are direct bolt ins if you can get a better deal on the aluminum blocks? Do you want an iron block or it sounds like you want an aluminum one? Clear me up on my understanding.

    4.6 Aluminum Block

Thanks guys. Went to look at an 03 exploder in a salvage yard, but couldn't see the casting number without ripping a bunch of stuff out. I'm just going to try and get the 05+ block then. Those blocks are for sure the 3L2E with the Nemak symbol on them, i just looked at my 07. If i had to guess...

    4.6 Aluminum Block

So the consensus i'm getting then is that the 3L2E that was in the 05+ mustangs was never in any of the exploders correct?

    4.6 Aluminum Block

I've read up on this a lot already, and have seen Bruce's posts alot. http://s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=54810 It appears this thread says that the 3L2E blocks are for the 05+ mustangs, http://s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=65462&highlight=Explorer+motor This thread however has...

    4.6 Aluminum Block

There's debate between which is strongest between the teksid and the 3V, but i'm not worried about that. The 3L2E casting number that is on the 05+ cars is also on the 03-05 explorers, is what i have read around the forums. I'm just trying to see if that's correct. If it is correct, are they the...

    4.6 Aluminum Block

Been researching this for the past few weeks. Can anyone tell me if a 3L2E block casting out of an 03 explorer is the same block used in the 05+ mustangs? Are there 4 different aluminum 4.6 blocks (Teksid, WAP, WAP/NVH, 05+ 3V), or are there just 3 (Teksid, WAP, WAP/NVH) with WAP/NVH being used...

Stock intake and stock inconel exhaust valves

Hey guys, Parts are in Jackson, OH if you're close enough to pick them up. Like the title says i've got stock intake and exhaust valves i pulled out of the extra heads i'm planning on using for my build. They would be glass beaded (all shiny and new) and resurfaced for you. $150 for the whole...

    Old but new

Well, went to sell some stock valves that i would clean up and resurface and ran into the "Your not an active enough member block" so here i am. Don't usually post many things, just browse the parts for sale to see if i want to scoop anything up, or the tech threads. Grew up in Jackson OH...

VCT with stiff springs and High volume/pressure oil pump

Ah I didn't think of that. Thanks for the heads up. Dad said we could grind the crank counterweights and tig weld some heavy metal in if we have to after we throw it on the balance machine.
