I just bought this car last week. I tossed on a pair of Nitto NT05R drag radials that I had left over from my old car.

Car has:
Vortech H.O. aftercooled kit with the 3.60 pulley
39lb injectors, unknown fuel pump (FPDC is around 80% at 6400rpm, so OK there)
Stock (as far as I know) 5R55s trans
4.10 gears
A tune from 'Justune' according to the SCT handheld

That's it.

Stock manifolds, cats, shortblock, etc.

I was pretty impressed. I figured mid-12s at 113-115mph. Dyno sheet in the glovebox shows around 415rwhp.

DA at the track (Rock Falls Raceway in Wisconsin) according to Dragtimes was around zero to +200FT, which is exceptionally good for this area. Obviously that helped.

Side note...anyone know who's car this was previously? The guy I bought it from is a friend of mine who flips a lot of cars. It's from the south somewhere (Arkansas maybe?)

Nice! I miss my '07 GT Automatic - Vortech V2 S-trim (non-intercooled), 4.10's, drag radials, and a 4500 rpm stall converter, so nearly the same as your new '06. Ran a best of 11.79 @ 114 in the 1/4 mile. I'd highly recommend a big converter to get your '06 into the powerband quicker.

Thanks. I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to do with this car. If I keep it for any length of time I'll have to put a good trans in it, which is about a million dollars. In that case, I'll do a converter and put 3.31s back in it because I really don't like the 4.10s for what I generally use the car for (I commute 60+ miles a day on the freeway). Then a built bottom end and I'll turn it up, most likely swap to a turbo setup as well. I'd like a 10-sec car, I've never had one that ran the number.

I think the 5R55 trans holds up well in the Mustang if you change the fluid frequently. The 5R55 doesn't do well in other Ford products (i.e. heavy SUV's such as the Explorer), so it's nice to know that companies like Level 10, PI, TCI, etc. make upgrades. With 3.31's, a big stall converter will really be much more important to getting into the powerband as long as the Vortech is still on the car. A 10-sec car sounds entertaining; keep us posted on the build!

My 06 with completely stock long block went 10.80's with Paxton 2200, 4.30 gears, and a Circle D convertor. Another friend's 06 with P1SC and a stock long block went 10.80's with 4.10's on the same day as mine at the same track. I actually think my car is quicker now that I have dropped back to 3.73's. Oh and he and I both did it with the 5R55 that came in the car.

Food for thought, thanks. How much boost / which pulley size to get you there? Pump gas? Trap speeds?

Not bad, should be high mid 11's with some more track time.

Very nice ET. A new TC would realy drop that time too. What did you buy the car for and how many miles on it? Car looks great too.

Somewhere around 15 lbs of boost with a 3.48 pulley, and pump gas is all I ever run. The slip was 1.63 sixty foot, and a 10.87 @ 126. Prior to installing the convertor it ran a best of 11.68 at 121.

Thanks. Price was complicated because the friend I bought it from took my 2000 C5 Convertible in on trade. Basically around $16k. 54k miles on the car.

Woah, that sounds like a lot of boost for only a 3.48? I suppose it's a different blower but my old 2005 GT with a T-trim and air/air intercooler made 15lbs with a 2.87 pulley and longtubes. That was only 8.5:1 CR though, maybe that makes a difference too.

15 lbs with a 3.48 pulley sounds about right. My '07 GT with Vortech V2 S-trim made 11 lbs with a 3.80 pulley. The Paxton & Vortech are essentially the same blowers.

Fun at Cedar Falls Raceway in Iowa yesterday. DA was in the 400-450 range for this pass according to Dragtimes.org.

I think there's a lot left in it just with some trans tuning. It bumps the 6500rpm limiter on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts, and then shifts into 4th at only 5900 which really kills it. I'll have to get a full retune though just to change shift points because the adjustment features are disabled in my SCT handheld, as far as I can tell.
