Two weeks ago I couldn't break 12.40 for the life of me, and went to Woodbine Motorsports to have JJ fatten up the torque curve between 4500 and 5200rpm.

Met up with JJ and Bill Tumas for a day of Test and Tune. Just as I thought, VERY light turnout with the Mother's Day activities. Other than a couple of imports dragging water onto the track, the prep was pretty good.

We raced from 12pm to 3:15. DA started out around -28ft and ended up around -125ft. Humidity was just a bit high, around 71%, but the temp never went above 57 degrees.

My biggest problem after reviewing everyone's comments is shifting. The 1-2 is horribly slow due to difficulty getting it in gear, and the same, sometimes, with the 2-3. But, over time, I started whittling away. For the record, I kept my QA1 shocks at setting 5 from soft (both sides), and the ET Streets at 15psi, with the skinnies at 40psi.

I'll post the two best slips in a bit, but here's the summary 6 runs in 3 hours:

1. 12.275 at 110, 1.630 60ft
2. 12.326 at 110, 1.666 60ft
3. 12.326 at 108, 1.604 60ft
4. 12.191 at 110, 1.598 60ft
5. 12.191 at 111, 1.588 60ft
6. 12.212 at 110, 1.622 60ft

Lots more in this car. The 60s are fine but I've got to nail the shifting. I'm calling MGW to talk about the notchiness (apparently the new model has a revised part that is supposed to fix that), and starting to look for a new stock clutch/flywheel combo at an good price.

So 11s didn't happen today, but knowing I'm pretty close is good enough for today's outing.

The biggest change was adjusting the tune and just plain hooking up better. I have a Spec2+ clutch and steel flywheel. Folks with my power levels just don't need an aftermarket setup. The spec has been a PIA from day one. I'm done with this POS--my stocker setup lasted 3 years and got beat up good.

Great runs today. 11's are in the bag for sure and there is more to be had with about 100lbs of seats as well. Usually when someone goes for a new best you run maybe 3 times in one day as I did today with what I brought but no, John runs the piss out of his car and runs 6 times which is more impressive IMHO.!!!!

Lets do smokey's this week.

I think Dave (stkjock) is trying to sell his OEM clutch. If he didnt sell it already....

Great runs John!
Funny thing you mention the SPEC2+. I just installed a spec 2 just for that reason you stated. If this doesn't work then back to OE clutch. SO far the SPec 2 feels great but the prooof is in the putten untill I get back to the track with sticky tires. I also installed the steel braide line and the clucth AND brakes for that much feels firmer than ever but a high rpm shifting the clutch feels lght as a feather. Have you changed out the tranny fluid to Mercon V?

Also...finally got my tune worked out from Chris Rose at AM. Finally I have 31* total timing at WOT.

Your 1/8 et and MPH not bad but that 1000' time is a killer. You get that trap mph back and your real close to 11.99 I bet.

Congrats!

i think my pressure plate was just faulty from the get go but i replaced everything with oem. my car now shifts better than ever and i can powershift now!

Incremental 4000, 4250, 4500, 4750, 5000, 5250...and yes, I've been told that's "granny" launching...just taking my time working out the 60ft as I gradually increase the launch rpm.

The 11 is there John, no doubt about it! Figure out whatever is hurting you on the shifting, especially 1-2, and you have it in the bag. I would have killed for your 60 foot times yesterday!!

ps I thought you ran 112 on one pass?

What a relief to drop 3/10s in one day. Suspension is working as it should so now it's clutch work/shifting and launch...
