whats the main differences in the two converters? I am reading that the 2013 and 2014 Autos have a different part number and it's half the cost of a 2011-2012 converter
That's interesting.2013-14 torque converters are not the same as the 2011-12 converters. If you are not drag racing your car you will not notice the difference. Unfortunately, if you are drag racing your 2013-14 Mustang the converters are several tenth's slower than the 2011-12. It looks like changing over to a Circle D converter is the only answer for us. Local (2011-12) guys with the same mods as I have are running very low 12's to high 11's. My best 1/4 mile time is 12.38 with a 1.94 sixty foot time. We are all running GT 5.0 automatics.

I was going to post our experience too. Kris and I dynoed within 5hp of each other and like he said ran within .03 all day. I believe our 60's were the same but his .03 advantage was gained by the 330' mark, which seems like his tire height gave the advantage.Yeah I don't know....my friend Todd has a 2014 with similar mods to my 2011 with the exception of his offroad x pipe to my factory one, and at the same track on the same day we ran within .03 of each other, both with the same 1.90 60-foot. We both have M/T ET Street Radials, and mine are 26.0" vs his which are 27.4" so if anything I have a gearing advantage and I think his would have been quicker with my tires.
sell my stock converter to you 13-14 guys lol
Same here... I've cut several 2.05's and that's the best, car has NO mod's.I am interested to see what some DRs would do for my 60ft. I am only getting 2.0s on my stock pirellis in my 2013 A6. I am leaving at idle too, not sure if that hurts it much.
Ran my new '14 GT Automatic last Friday for the first time (600 miles on the odometer). Canned 91 octane SCT "strategy" tune and 28" tall M&H drag radials - absolutely bone stock otherwise. Made 11 passes and every one of them had 60' times in the 2.0's. It was hot & humid with DA's in the 1000' to 1700' range above sea level. Managed to run a best of 12.79 @ 111+ despite the weather.
The stock converter sucks, so I just ordered a Circle D 4500 rpm stall converter. Looking to match or better the 1.65 to 1.75 60' times I had in my Vortech supercharged '07 GT automatic. My '07 had a 4800 rpm stall converter and launched well; can't wait to get the converter in my '14 !!!
Get a real tune on there before you fuck up your motor.
I'm really curious to see what the converter does for it with such few mod's.Ran my new '14 GT Automatic last Friday for the first time (600 miles on the odometer).
