I've been 9.50s on the stock 3.31 axle and was wondering how long this thing will last . It's completely bone stock even the oil. It has a girdle and strange adjustable shocks with a upper control arm for pinion adjustment. Car has a 4000 stall turbo 400 in it. Launching 4k on the brake and 8 lbs of boost. 20 lbs on top end

The stock axles are fairly stout, The stock rear OToH will eventually pop ..

Mine held up to a couple years worth of 6000rpm clutch dumps, then stripped the spider gears, I replaced it with a True Trac and Moser Axles, Then a funny thing happened, I bent the driverside axle .. To be fair to Moser, I did have some wicked tire shake testing a radial slick.

Replaced the Mosers with a pair of Strange axles (almost 1/2 the price of the Mosers) and haven't had an issue since.

I would get the tubes welded if they are not already. I have to replace/ rebuild my carrier- about 200 passes and 7000 miles and it wont burn a posi any more and you can feel it slipping on launch. wish I got as much use out of the carrier as you guys did and I am just a a6 with a 5c .

FWIW - Mine still has original axles, the stock diff lived for a while to mid 9s @ 140+ and 1.4 60' full weight with the previous owner, I replaced the diff with a TT a few years back after the rear started making bad noises

Will the disk brakes hold the axle in if it busts an axle?

We've been pretty fast on the stock axles without any issues that I am aware of; Hell just within my close friends alone we have all been single digits on them and haven't had issues.

I haven't welded my axle tubes but do need to :(
