At least the Cayenne and the Panamera are different vehicles with different names. Our problem was simply calling this thing a Mustang.

This exactly. I don't care if Ford made a 4 door on the Mustang chassis and called it something else, but it would be sacrilege to call it a Mustang and possibly have Mustang special editions to boot.

As well as one of the Jaguars too. Thunderbird was a S197 platform. It's quite versatile.

I'm putting my money on it. 2015 the Mustang and Falcon will be on the same platform and resemble one another. Ford stated they are looking to market the Mustang globally and the Falcon has that "BMW/Holden" look to it.

The only problem with that is the strength of the Aussie dollar.

GM found that out the hard way with the G8 and it's parts.

They would need to build it over here.

With a global platform that Ford has been hinting on, I do not see this to be an issue. The Falcon is due for a refresh as well.
