Dunno if others ever figured this out but after having new bare stage 3, 3v heads setup with oversized Manley valves with beadlocs by TKM, something was found that I’ve never been made aware of. I’ve seen failures with these springs with no explanation and I was a little worried running them but what was found is a design flaw in the heads themselves that HAD to be addressed. Seems the aluminum casting pockets that shroud around the springs at the top was actually touching on 3 of my springs. After TKM done some measuring, it seems the comp retainers have .002” play on the spring which would allow most springs to contact the head. The bottom pockets have a total of .009 variation (.0045” either direction) but this isn’t necessarily an issue but the top holes where the springs protrude thru need to be shaped to allow at least .0015” to alleviate contact at high rpm where collision could happen and cause catastrophic failure. This is just an FYI to hopefully help others avoid parts failure

Different groove cut in valve stem for a different style lock. The factory valve locks allow the valve to spin on the seat which is not a good thing in a performance application. The beadloc is a better, single groove lock that is squared where as a 3 groove oem is rounded. To run them you have to buy the valves as well. They don’t work with factory lock grooved valves. The valves I have are oversized as well
