So I just bought this car and I’m working through all the issues getting it all lined out. If the temp is below about 40° outside the car is extremely hard to start. After some googling it seems the ECT sensor is the most common suggestion but there’s never any post telling what fixed the problem. Has anyone had this issue and if so what fixed it? The ECT seems to Omh out fine it showed 26.2k yesterday when the engine was around 80°.

2006 4.0 V6 with 197,000 on the clock.

What I’ve read is that the ECT sensor is messed up and not telling the EFI that the “choke” need to be on to start when it’s that cold. But no one posted that they got theirs fixed.

FIXED!!!!

I remembered last night that my scan gauge would read the water temp. Went out this morning 28° outside. Gauge showed 130° ran to the parts store installed new ECT and it then showed 28° and fired right up.
