Discovered Mobil 1 does make a 5W50 synthetic oil.
My wife found a wholesaler online (I'll post the link later), where we were able to order two cases. Frustrantingly, our cars supposedly use not 6, but 6.5 quarts, so I need to buy another quart to make that 2 oil change intervals. While I'm on that subject, my manual says there's a 7500 mi interval for the oil change.... does anyone actually follow that or do y'all change the oil at 3k or 5k?
BTW, the only other 5W50 I've found is Castrol GTX, other than Motorcraft.....and I have no idea who manufactures that oil.

6 quarts put mine right on the full mark on the dipstick. I wouldn't think you would want to run a 50 weight oil unless you were running a blower or supercharger. With any full synthetic oil it's safe to go to the 7000 mile mark before changing.

I still use Motorcraft 5W-50. I've been told its good to use Royal Purple XPR 10W-40 though. I dont know If I want to try it yet though. Seems risky.

Good info; good to know, thanks!
I'm gonna check to see what the price differential is.

Odd are that is probably also manufactured by Mobil 1. Badass car, btw. What does the red stripe say? I'm on my iTouch and can't make it out.

So why not a 10 weight as opposed to the recommended 5 weight

Hmm sounds like i need a oil change since putting the saleen supercharger on. Is the general concensus 5w50 for supercharged cars?

is there an answer to this question. I upgraded to 5w-30 Royal Purple but if the 5w-40 is better for a F/I car, I will know for next time.

Ok, bringing up a old thread. How is this oil working out for you guys? I broke my engine in with 5w-30 standard pennzoil then went to 10w-40 standard pennzoil. I am looking for a oil that is going to cover the initial cold start up and plus cover the high temp wot boost situations. My cams have been locked so VCT isn't an issue. Info please
