I've always wanted to get a gas powered RC 4x4 truck to tinker around with but didn't have the spare cash or time to get into one. I found this one on Craigslist and it looks like it needs a new motor. But I have no idea if this is a good deal or not. If anyone has any feedback I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

Not a baddeal if it includes the electronics.
Motors are easy to come by on ebay or you can just buy a new piston and sleeve for the one he includes.

I just sold out of rc after racing them for the last 7 years.
It was time to get out once I had 5k in a 1/5th scale losi 5ive.
2 stroke gas powered.
Nitro rc takes alot of maintenance to keep it running correctly.

Definitely don't want to have 5k into it. That's why if I can get into one for a couple hundred bucks to just thrash around on I'd be happy. The guy said it comes with original Traxxas controller, receiver and he was using a 4aa pack for the battery.

Yea that's pretty old... I'd say no

If you want to get in cheap go with electric, way easier for a newbie to learn. And with nitro there is a steep learning curve.

If you want cheap and almost indescribable go with a traxxas slash, brushless motor would be best. And these days electric will go faster...

If you are set on nitro check out the Hpi Savage, pretty durable and tons of upgrades.

I've had just about every class of R/c made and the 4x4 electric stadium trucks are some of the most fun to run.

Electric is cool, for me I like the challenge of nitro.
The tuning, the smoke, the smell etc... but electrics can be much faster if that is what you're going for...

I've gotten to 112mph with electric

Only 102 with nitro...

So much prouder of the nitro though as it was not easy to do that and not a lot of people do.
Electric I just strapped in parts and did some custom gear work and it was done.

I have about $800-$900 in my Traxxas Mustang Boss 302. Its addicting to mod them and costly. Just something to think about.

I've been in and out of the hobby for 25 years...

They just built a "Rock Crawling" trail near me. Its way cool and I'm about to buy a crawler.. Takes an hour to complete the course. Tons of fun!

Try to locate any local clubs and see what type of tracks you have local.

The green one started life as a Axial AX-10.
I was really into crawling about 5 yrs ago but then got into short course trucks.

Nice! Crawling is addictive, get ready to open your wallet and clear some time on your calendar. Lol

Nice course you got there!

Also a great forum for crawling is rccrawler.com in case you haven't found it yet.
