I tried to get a response from American Muscle but they don't seem to visit here. I am posting my question here in case someone can help.

A. http://www.americanmuscle.com/alumin...ft-1114gt.html

B. http://www.americanmuscle.com/frpp-o...ft-1114gt.html

What is the difference between these two driveshafts? Aren't these both made by Dana? Why is it that "A" will fit an automatic car and "B" will only fit a manual car?
What is the difference between and auto and manual driveshaft on a 2011-14 GT? They have different OEM part numbers.
Thank you for your help.

don't know for sure, but could there be a difference in the spline yoke between manual and automatics ?

For example, early 90s Mustangs had either the 28 spline yoke with the 7.5 or 8.8 axle, and others had a 31 spline

just spit balling ideas ... like I said ... not sure

Dana's cxer service number is 1.800.621.8084

or email them here:

I'm running the same one piece in my 14 auto that I had in my 13 manual. Made by Axle Exchange. Hope that answers your question. And to beat you to it, zero vibration in either setup. Went right in and required no re- clocking OR adapter.

Thank you everyone.
Redfirepearlgt,
No, was not going to ask about vibration but thanks for the information. What is amazing is that what appears to be simple solution to mate the driveshaft to the pinion flange on this driveshaft does not vibrate. When you consider all of the different design ideas that are out there, it makes me wonder why it took so long to come up with this one.

Yes. There is one DS place in particular that uses quite a bit of hype and scare tactics to peddle their overpriced, over engineered DS. I bought into it and was even told after choosing this one that if I wasn't happy they would send it back and get the other one and install it at no additional cost if I wasn't happy with the Axle Exchange DS. I don;t mind things like noise through the gear shifter, but Driveline vibration, tires out of balance, and front end alignment issues are things I cannot tolerate.

I have run the same shaftmasters in my manual and auto without issue. I worked with them years ago on the prototype for the manual. Turned into using the same for both applications.
