Anyone heard how strong the autos arre going to be? Or if anyone is working on a ratchet shifter for them. I really hope so I really enjoyed mine in my old car.

They will have the same trans that has been proven in the Expedition and F150. It is called the 6R80.

6- 6 speeds
R- Rear drive
80- Capacity multiplied by the converter X10

(400lb/ft @ flywheel X~2 converter multiplication = 800 so 800/10=80)

I haven't been in one, but I will soon. I need to start doing some R&D.

If you are talking about the 6M Getrag, then yes it's a dream. This is not an Aston Martin and sequential shifting refers to an automatically actuated manual gearbox. If you are talking about the automatic and mean tiptronic style, paddle shifting, then yes I believe it will be available.

I am looking forward to the day when someone puts one in an 05-09 and makes it work. :) Especially if it can handle more hp/tq.

+1. as stock it's already rated 400hp. so going to 500hp could be safer than a 5R55S

If you mean the 6R80, I may be that guy.... I'm a big nerd.

WTF is skip shift?

In the Camaro/TransAM/Vette, it was referred to as C.A.G.S (Computer Aided Gear Selection). My girlfriend had a 2000 TA WS6 with a T-56 and it had this. When I all the crap to her car, I also instaled a skipshift eliminator. It just plugged into the harness between the actuator on the transmission and the vehicle wiring. Basically, at low speed it locks out 2nd and guides you from 1st to 4th for increased mpg. I never had an issue with it, but I deleted it anyway.

The 6R80 will be stronger than the 5R55s by far. I am not so sure that it will be stronger (or can be modified to be) than a 4R70w despite the factory rated handling capacity. As I said, I need to get my hands on one.

I agree, but it was not really it's intended application. It was first placed in the 2003 Thunderbird, behind an impotent engine, with no future.

I guarantee, a Ford guy was like, "Well the new car looks great, but we don't have a transmission." Another guy says, "Wait, we have a whole shit pile of these 5R55S units awaiting production." First guy says, "Don't hold up the line son."

My biggest concern is going to be tranny tuning if we stick this 6R80 in the 05-09. I assume we will need to disable the tranny in the CPU and have a 3rd party CPU for the 6R80. Let's hope it is that simple.

It is to an extent. With some black magic, it should be only a bit more difficult than the 5R was for Powertrain Control Solutions. I have an idea based off what I have seen in the F150 tunes. I need to get one of these 6R80 transmissions. Wait, I said that already.

my wife has the new 6speed auto in her 2010 F-150. it only had a 3V 4.6 but it is actually pretty peppy (for what it is) and i attribute that to the gearing in the tranny combined with 3.55's.

i bet these new 6sp auto cars are gonna FLY. (i think i said that somewhere else on here)
