We want to take a moment and explain what an oil separator/catch can does and how it can help your drivability. Whether you have a set up that is naturally aspirated or with a power adder. These oil separators can really be an added value.
When the crankcase pressure is released back through your intake it can leave large amounts of oil vapors which will build up in your throttle body and cause drivability issues. Most companies will recommend running one on the driver side, however once you are collecting it on that side it will want to push oil through the passenger side which is why we recommend one on each. We really like the JLT oil separator because they have engineered these with factory fitting clamps and installation is just a short click! They look awesome and factory. These are available at Brenspeed.com in anodized black or a clear (satin) look. No matter what year or model your mustang is JLT will have something to fit.

For years Brenspeed engineering cars have been running oil separators on their N.A. packages as well as supercharger packages like the 3-valve Saleen Kits, Roush 560r kit, Vortech and Paxton. Every install that comes into Brenspeed almost always does this upgrade once they see the benefit and how it can keep the system clean. For an example if your car starts to have a rough idle, wants to surge at low RPM, and maybe even die, the first thing we tell everyone to do is clean your throttle body. This is an overlooked routine maintenance item for most people we have even made a video on how to do this on our website. Adding a JLT Oil Separator to your system will defiantly slow this oil build up down and keep your drivability on the up and up!

For an example we have had 2 cars with the exact same set up install the oil separator at the same time. Drove the same road trip for 250 miles, stopped at the destination and checked both catch cans. One can had about a 1/8in oil in it and one was almost ½ full! It’s recommended checking them about every third tank of fuel when first installed. Once you get the idea down on how quick it fills then you will be all set on when to empty.
