Have LiveLink 6.3 software, SCT x3, laptop running Vista. I followed these instructions from a previous post:

  1. "Plug in the tuner to the OBD port
  2. plug the tuner into the laptop (which has the latest 4.41 Livewire and drivers loaded)
  3. turn the ignition switch to on (same position as to load a tune)
  4. launch the Livewire software
  5. click on the graph icon at the top left of the screen
It doesn't recognize the device...tuner isn't communicating with the Livewire... "

I disabled user account control, didnt work, restarted computor with x3 plugged in, nothing. I followed all the advice in this thread and nothing works. My pc wont recognize the x3.

Whom has successfully connected their laptop running Vista with an x3 and datalogged? Should I just datalog with just the x3 then import to my laptop?

I tried on another laptop that runs windows xp, no luck either. So I then just datalogged with the sct and then tried to download to laptop......no luck. Laptop does not recognize the sct. This shit has made my head hurt.

Has anybody ever hooked up an autometor wideband to a sct x3? Whats the equation? I feel like I just took the fucking SAT test in high school this shit is so confusing.:yuck: Just fucking:chainsaw:my ass!!!

Before I had advantage 3 I had similar issues.

Try this: http://www.sctflash.com/support/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=27&nav=0

Follow it to the letter. Especially the part about manually installing drivers. Hopefully there is a step in here that you missed and it's not something else.

Vista sucks for sct. I also had to boot the computer with the x3 plugged in to get vista to recognize new hardware but you already did this so why am I repeating what you already said? Hmmm.

Edit: I see you are trying to datalog with the pc. In that case forget what I wrote. :)

I actually tried that page. Guess I will call sct during working hours. I spent 8 hours reading and trying different things on two computors and no luck. Time to start drinking!

u need to use windows i tried vista and its a no go. if it does work you need to wiggle the cord around what i usually do is hang the xcal three from my window visor that way it has nothing to bounce on. then that cord from the xcal 3 to my laptop in the passenger seat. just plug in the xcal three first then the xcal to the pc then turn the key on. i know what your going through i was pissed off also. hope that helps out.

I gave up trying to use vista and successfully datalogged using XP instead, but I have an XCal2. I finally ditched all that SCT crap and I'm using Innovate OT-2 to datalog wirelessly to my iPad.

I guess you're talking about Livelink and not livewire? I would re download the X3 drivers and start from there.

I went through the same crap on windows7 x64, if I boot the computer with the SCT plugged in it wont work at all.

I have to have the computer booted up, then plug the X3 into the computer and wait for the music that shows something is connected to the USB port. Then fire up livelink, go to commands-identify SCT device and if I see X3 plus on the lower RH corner I know thats working.

Then I plug it in the car, turn the key on, and load my config. If I dont do it right the whole mess locks up. On the 2011s the data logging is very buggy all around, hopefully they get that fixed in the future.

Its a 50-50 shot of it working even doing it the way I described for me on a 2011.

I'm assuming you have all the latest firmware and tune files in your X3?

I think it's sad that SCT hasn't come up with an easier way to datalog. It isn't user friendly at all.

Strange, I have no problems datalogging my x3 with livelink6.2 on a laptop that's running vista. I also integrated my LC-1 wideband on the x3 and able log the wideband afr signal on livelink using analog1. Here's what I did

-Plug xcal3 to obd port
-plug usb cable to x3
-plug usb cable to laptop
-open livelink
-select commands/identify sct device
-turn key on engine off
-load config file (big thanks to 1lowtoy for making me one)
-start engine
-click green button

Now it does take a while for the x3 to communicate, it will beep a couple of times and you will see on top of the livelink software that's its not responding. I just gave it a couple of secs and then data started showing and logging.

livelink 6.3 I heard is buggy and often doesn't work. I'm using the 6.2 version. Here's the installer I got saved up and give it a shot. You will need to uninstall 6.3 first then re-install 6.2

I have never used it on anything but this 2011, honestly its terrible as far as datalogging one of these when you start making some power.

Even just using the handheld only for logging and their own 2011 5.0 PIDs the vss doesnt work and it drops out at times, using the laptop/livelink it drops frames all the time at WOT unless I use an old cofig that was created on LL 6.2 and even then it will drop frames now and then. I'll cut them some slack since its a new ECU, the PRP software works fine for what I'm doing, but the logger is pretty bad on these compared to HP tuner or EFIlive (GM tuning software).

I've been looking into a couple wireless OBD dataloggers but I'll hold off a bit and see if SCT can figure it out.

Holy shit it worked!!!!:omfg::clap: It showed all the pids.......I cant believe it after yesterdays 8 hour frustration fest!!

Now how do I get a config file?

Jdm asked for this: "If you can get the fuel trims read at idle and a steady cruise while the MAF voltage is at 2 volts that would tell me everything i need to know."
Is it possible to get that without hooking up the wideband?

:clap:Glad it's working! pm 1lowtoy about making you a config file to datalog. He will also need your strategy code, plug in your xcal to your car and read your strategy. It should be a 7 letter/number code. Yeah jdm should be able to figure out what he needs to see without the wideband.

It's just a configuration file or set of pids that tuners use to view data. It varies per tuner but at least you will have the basic pids to datalog. Later on you can hook up your wideband to your xcal and log it with livelink using analog1. Your autometer wideband should have an analog out and ground that the wideband uses. Follow this link to make the data cable

Ok another dumb question. Lowtoy sent me the config files. How do I load one into live link? I cant find anything that says "load config file".

I tried a test run just clicking on some pids and it worked......I cant tell ya what the fuck it means though! LOL
