SOLD!

I used this machine as a backup computer for a long time and put it in storage a year or so ago. I just pulled it out last week and I have no use for it except to sell it to clear out my stash of electronics. It was originally shipped from Dell on June 2006.

Specifications:
-DELL Inspiron 6400 Laptop
-Windows XP Professional Edition (Service Pack 3 Installed)
-Intel Core Duo T2300 Processor - 1.66GHz
-1.5GB DDR2-5300 RAM (Max is 2GB)
-60GB Hard Drive
-15.4” LCD screen with 1280x800 Resolution
-Intel 945GM Graphics Processor
-DVD+/-RW Drive

I put this computer through a full hardware test, everything from checking the functionality of the keyboard, screen, hard-drive blocks, RAM, etc. Everything checked out and is free of failure.

I erased the hard drive fully and installed a fresh new copy of Windows XP Professional Edition with all drivers and performed all the Microsoft updates. The computer works perfectly. I took some time to clean the entire thing too. It runs fast and would be great for just simple internet browsing, tuner/datalogging computer, word processing, kids, pornography, etc

Cosmetic condition is great. No cracks or dents in the casing. I replaced the entire backlid with a Grade A conditioned one along with the hinges. They are in perfect working order, very tight. Functions like it is brand new. There are wear spots on the palmrest and on the media control buttons towards the front of the trackpad. The bottom of the computer does not have any cracks or rubber feet missing.

The original Windows XP Professional Product Key is still intact on the bottom of the computer.

Computer comes with OEM Dell Battery (hold a sufficient charge for 45-60 min at least). Also comes with the OEM DELL charger.

I wouldn't hesitate to use this computer, it runs very well and has always been reliable whenever I needed it. This thing would run Windows 7 on it easily too

$90 Shipped from VA, 22312

G-Reg has your jitterbug phone showed up yet? Are you going to have the young whippersnapper setup the bluetooths between the jitterbug and your vette?

Don't you have a car to be working on or some parts to be slinging?

Depending on motherboard, you can probably up it to 6400-DDR2 (800Mhz), and CAM said 2 GB max in the OP. Hard drive should be doable, should be a SATA, and most of them can be backwards compatible.

I'll also have to look when I get home, but I did upgrade the CPU on my mom's old laptop before she dropped it too many times. I believe it was around 2.00 GHz Core 2 Duo. Not sure if the Core 2 would work on CAM's chipset.

EDIT: Found the online manual. 667 MHz RAM is the high speed. 800 would work, but would just get down clocked by the motherboard. It does say it supports Core 2's, but doesn't say which Core 2's. Again, I'll be able to find out more later when I am at home.

Yeah I have pc2-6400 I could stick in it but it's worthless. The core duo and core 2 duo are different architectures.

The hard drive is each to swap out. Anything 2.5 and sata which is about everything.

The CPU my mom's old one had was a T9500 (Socket P "Penryn"), so won't work here. The Inspiron is a Socket M. There are a few Socket M Core 2's (Merom), and sometimes a BIOS update is all it needs to work (check with Dell's BIOS updates). The only FSB it supports is 667 while the Socket P had 800 FSB variants.
