Have had my 07 GT since 2009. Slowly adding something new to it every year has kept me interested in continuing to mod it. I've lowered it and this year added sway bars front and rear. Next will be upper and lower control arms then wheels and tires.or vice versa. If I can figure out which wheels I want lol. I think for me is this is my weekend toy so it doesn't get driven as much. 13,000 miles since I bought it with barely any miles on it. I drive an SUV for work so it's nice to get in this thing and rip around town and turn some heads too. I like the new ones but this one is nearly paid off so I like that better than starting over again payment and mod wise.

Just keep it and throw a few bolt ons. My car is now paid off but with 61k miles, it's barely broken in.

Mine is a 06 I got in 09 with 15k miles, now has 31k. Bolted on nearly every mod there is inside and out. Man I love this car. Turns heads like crazy and its built to my wants. A new car would just be new. At car shows my car gets more attention than the new cars....people like the customization. I say bolt on those headers. I gained two tenths at the drags when I added mine.

Get a blower on it, feels like a brand new car. Then like others have said have fun with it, plan a new mod each year for it.

First thing I would do is wait for the 2015s to come out. Then test drive one of those, a 2014 and then compare them to your car. Would your car with some mods make you as happy as having a newer one or do you want the newer car? I wouldn't let minor things like door panel pealing and things like that be the reason you trade it in.

As others have said, the newer car has more power and will be more refined. I actually test drove a 5.0 and it wasn't enough for me to trade in on, but then again I already have a ton of mods (supercharger/ LTs and full exhaust/ shocks/struts/etc) and some kind of weird attachment to my car. Hell, every time I've even mentioned possibly getting rid of my car it seems like everyone around me tells me I'd be stupid to.

Do this. It will be a whole lot of fun. You will want to drive it as much as possible. Keep it simple with an FRPP Whipple and the Ford tune or go wild with a built motor, head work, cams, etc.

There is a whole lot you can do to make the car more appealing to you.

I've ran both. A non intercooled Whipple and a non intercooled Paxton. I'd advise intercooled. IMO it's more reliable than meth. I never had an issue with meth but it's spray is dependent on signals, a controller, and pump. Lots of things common to the motor are dependent on the same things but meth always made me nervous.

A Paxton with an air to air intercooler is about as simple as supercharger setups get.

I find a hard time dumping a few grand of mods into a 7 year old car. The same amount of money could be used towards a new car fund.

I will never get rid of my 07'. Even though I have pretty much ruined it by going "race car" it will still always be a 05-09. In 20yrs they will be the ones to have.

The argument can always be made that you can put your money toward a newer car. Car will always march forward (well at least for a time) and get better. They have to. I say pay off your 05-09 and keep it. Then get a payment on a new one. Drive the new one as s daily and keep the "classic" for special occasions.

How many guys are bummed out they kept their 67-69' Mustangs opposed to selling them and getting something newer because it was a"nicer car".

I love having my 07'. I hardly drive it. No payment, no big deal. I put miles on my 12'.

I may replace my 12' with a S550. But not to mod or use as a "pleasure vehicle". Just to have a nice kinda fast daily that isn't my truck. The S550 will have to be pretty good though.

If you're the "OMG A NEW CAR CAME OUT" type of person, consider leasing... you get to change it every few years :)

I'm like that with trucks^^^^^^^^^^^

That said my current truck is bought, not leased. First one in 14yrs. I've had it 2.5yrs now and I don't see anything else that I would rather have.

I've never leased a car.

OP,

To answer your question on Post #1 here.

I have zero regrets on ordering my 2008 Bullitt Mustang.

6 years later and I can say I am more Happy with it today than when I took Delivery of it.

I'll keep it as long as I can. :thumb2:

They say that if you park your car and don't turn around to look at it you bought the wrong car. I still turn around and look at my '06 and still get looks and compliments daily. Is the door leather starting to fall off? Yep. Clunks and creaks? Yup. Would I have those same problems with another 7 year old Mustang? Maybe, but you know what? Sometimes it's easier to just keep things maintained (I'll have to replace the carpet and drivers seat upper leather at some point) then it is to invest in another vehicle that might have it's own share of problems.

I'll keep my '06.

Lol, not at all. I bought my 06' in 2011, would I have liked a 5.0? Of course, but it wasn't in my budget at the time. More than anything I wanted a V8 and a stick since I was coming from an 01' Tahoe. It served me well and was still in great shape but I didn't need it for what it was and the gas mileage was craptastic.

I think it's more of a rough patch than anything. Of course I still keep her detailed to the 9's in the summer time (pretty much year round here). If anything the fact that this is my DD has held me back from the more fun mods. Who knows though, the money I'm saving now could always go towards a lightly used Fiesta ST or Focus ST in a few years as a DD...

Smart thinking - sometimes I wish I had a DD. Well, I do. It's a steel frame single speed mountain bike.. ouch.
