I tried installing some puddle lights on my 2008 v6. I was able the wire the hot wire into the dome light, jumping it to the light blue and black cable. Instead of wiring the ground into the circuit (jumping it into the light green and yellow cable) I simply grounded it to the door. It worked initially, and was super cool, however, about 5 minutes later, my dome light stopped working entirely, as did the puddle light.

I tried to jump the puddle light with a 9V battery to see if it was still working, but it got blown out.

I assume where I went wrong was grounding the puddle light the door rather than completing the circuit, but now I'm getting no power to the dome light.

How do I fix this? I've checked all of the fuses, and they are all good.

I'm worried I might have to replace the Smart Junction Box? Could that be the issue?
