Driveshaft and gear swap question...

Foe those of you who've swapped gears, what did you do with the driveshaft after disconnecting it from the pinion flange? With that big CV joint on the end, I can't push it up enough to clear the flange, and lowering it will make pinion nut r/r and preload setting a p.i.t.a. Did you work around it, or disconnect it from the center bearing and drop it altogether?

Nope, no driveshaft loop, but it's gonna be tough to get up in there with an impact wrench to get the pinion nut off. Just wondering if guys who've done this a lot drop the whole shaft to free up more space... did it get in your way when you were setting preload?

Well, yeah, it was in the way some, but not directly in front of the nut. Just support it on a block of wood so it isn't hanging in it's own weight.
Only did it one time under the car; other times the rear end was out, much easier of course.
(glad to see you're going to get the preload set up properly! No impact on that, lol.)
