Here in the next few weeks I'll be bolting up the On3 performance twin kit. If you have any negative opinions about that kit, the manufacturer, the owner, or anything concerning that stuff, keep them to yourself. Now that I got that out of the way I'll also be installing ID1000s (yes I know its overkill but all of the tuners I've talked to said they are the easiest to tune), a boost referenced BAP, and the aftermarket MAF meter. Probably building my own cold side and using the intercooler I already have because I like it better.

Now on to my question. mike with bama said a while back (since I'm on the free tunes for life program) that he'd send me a base map so the car could start and idle around so its not completely dead trying to get it to a tuner. Question is, I need a good tuner within a 6 hour drive to tune my car. I love my N/A AED tune but I can't exactly drive to Cali with my car on a trailer. So the areas in mind are Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, New Orleans.... Places in the gulf region... I live in Orange Texas and I can throw a rock and hit Triangle Speed Shop, but I'm not going there. I have my reasons...

So... Throw me some suggestions!

I'm kind of partial to HPP Racing in Lewisville. Not exactly close to you, but they do excellent work. The week they had mine, they finished up a Hellion twin kit on an '11 with built engine. Initial results were 1100 at the wheels, and expecting more as they ironed the tune out.

Always heard good things about Fast Lane too though and they're a lot closer.

Jeff Smith in Kemper TX at Central Texas Performance. He actaully just picked up the same turbo setup for his 2013 Boss. Will be installing it and testing it further for ON3. He did say he will nbe modifieing a few things. But is just waiting to it to get there and get it installed.

He also tuned my car.

I believe Shaun works with a shop in San Antonio for dyno tuning. I can't remember the name of it, but shoot him an email.

I almost went that route with my AED tune.

Maximum Velocity does Lund remote dyno tuning in San Antonio.

Lund will not tune TT Turbo set ups on 11+ cars unless it's there TT5.0 kit

You have many options in the good state of Texas.

I have a lot of satisfied customers who use just about all of them. I suggest calling each shop and going with who makes you the most comfortable, choosing a tuner in my opinion is a very important step.

Ignore this comment. That shop you speak of isnt known for being safe, look elsewhere.

The shop itself. Doesnt matter if Shaun works with them. This shop likes to tune on the ragged edge.

My vote would be Manny at HPP. Trailer the car to him and drop it off, give him a week or 2 or 3 and let him work his magic.

Patrick at psi in kema. Lots of cars around here use him, he is really good. I'm in buna, lemme know if you need a hand with anything (transport, working on car, etc).

3 weeks to tune a car? I understand a week at most. But 2 or 3 for just a tune.

Assuming that he has other business going on. I want my car to idle, accelerate, have decent fuel mileage, and have all bugs worked out when I pick it up. Tuner can take the time that is needed to get my sh!t right the first time. Because I dont want to have to come back with an issue!

He had mine for 2 weeks, including a week for the installation. Busy shop, way more going on than just my car. Beware the shop that can fit you in any time you show up.

agree. But that's why you set up a time to drop off car when he can work on it. Not let it sit for no reason for days/weeks.

Look above. And I have always had to setup the day to drop my car to get tuned in which it can take 1-3 days. And having a stalled auto takes more work then a manual. No trans to tune on the manual. Plus I then would go to track do logs and have tuner check them and make any adjustments if needed to shift points, pressures, etc. Sometimes i had to wait 3-4 weeks to get car in. But 2 weeks makes more since if he did install also. Bust dropping car off today when told to do so then waiting 2-3 weeks. Screw that. Tell me to drop it off when you can actually start it.

Dude Im not talking about just showing up out of the blue and saying hey man tune my sh!t. Of course theirs gonna be an appointment made and plenty of conversations between the tuner and myself about the direction we want to go with the car.
