Cleaned the engine today...

1. Put plastic bag around CAI air filter so it doesn't get wet.
2. Spray Simple Green liberally over entire engine.
3. Let Simple Green sit on engine for about 5 minutes.
4. Use brush to scrub stubborn spots.
5. Rinse engine throughly.
6. Start engine to help drying process...
7. Start engine again to help drying process...
8. Start engine yet again to help drying process...
9. Start engine for the forth time to help drying process....
10. REMOVE PLASTIC FROM CAI FILTER!
11. Refer back to step 6.
12. Towel dry any remaining water.
13. Order new FRPP CAI replacement filter.

I put a plastic bag over the alternator of the wife's car when I washed the engine bay. Popped the hood 2 weeks later and the bag was still over the alternator. uggghhhhhhh:thud:.........stooopid!!!!:nk:

I use the same method with a few differences.

I run the car before hand.
Then spray on the s.g the warm engine causes a steamer like effect.
then after 20 minutes I rinse.
Remove PLASTIC and fire up.
After all is dry I coat everything with turtle f21. It is a non greasy protectant, like armor-all but does not leave a reside.

I once drove all the way to work pissed off cause I left my coffee at the store, well, I get to work and the damn thing is on my rear bumper.......empty and lying on its side.

Use tin foil on the alternator. Got a leaf blower? Use it to dry the motor off as soon as you can. Use as little water as possible otherwise you're just asking for problems. Don't be surprised if you see some oxidizing on your TB and similar metal. Simple Green is pretty caustic on them.
