Hi guys,

I just bought a 2012 Mustang V6 and the brakes felt a little screwy. Creaking noise on application, mushy pedal feel, and front brakes seemed to drag too much when pedal was released. I bled the system but no improvement.

When I took the front brakes apart, I found the problem--pads weren't installed correctly. A pin on the backing plate was contacting the caliper housing, and not allowing the caliper to clamp the pads properly. In the photos you can see the wear on the backing plate (pin, and rivet for squealer) and wear on the caliper itself.

Pads are not marked inboard or outboard, but now I know to put the pad with the squealer (and extra pin) on the inboard side, against the pistons. I hope I can save someone the aggravation.
