Can the Longtubes be installed on the block and the whole thing set into place or is best to set the motor into place followed by LT's install? The motor will be pulled from the top in lieu of dropping everything via the K-member

Yes no issue pulling / installing the motor with the long tubes on. I`ve done it many times.

Does the steering shaft get in the way or can you still get the motor in around it? I'll be doing a similar install soon and would like to know if I should drop the steering rack and move the shaft prior to putting the motor in.

No need to drop the rack or move the steering shaft.
