Hey guys whats the largest size tire i can fit in a stock rear end without it rubbing on any part of the car during operation?? Tire shops have told my like 275 is the largest they recommend on a 17 inch rim(whatever stock base rim size is) pretty sure i have 17s.

Do i need to get dish rims to get a larger tire to accommodate the beefy muscle car look im trying to go for??

:thud:

rims have two dimensions... diameter and width, the width, for the most part, will dictate what size tire you can fit.

If they are the factory 17x8" wheels, a 275 width gets pretty squished, plus there is nothing sold in the proper overall diameter in that width (in a regular street tire) to suit an S197. Try looking at 255/50R17 instead, a few choices available and that will fit on 8" wheels.

Thank you so much for replies, yes it's the 17x8. Was thinking of putting 235s in the front and some kind of 255s street legal slicks for the rears, anyone see a problem with this? And any suggestions for a California street approved drag radial?? TIA

Thank you so much for your help, you don't think that 28 inch will rub at all? Will that 275-50r17 you linked have some tire bulge?

The 275/50-17 M&H is the best fitting DR for the factory 17" wheels.

Here's a pic I found of them on factory 17x8 wheels...perfect fit IMO.
