I decided to visit Northern California for the weekend and took the following pictures. Things I learned from this trip:

1. Pacific Coast Highway (Highway 1) is AWESOME!!! 3 hour of blissfulness

2. Northern California gas-station exits are HELL. Almost got stuck in Santa Cruz

3. Hwy 41 (connecting pass between I-5 and 101) is a fun, secluded road. Definitely recommend!

Enough jabbering.. onward with the pics:

Pretty cool tunnel in Gaviota area:

How long did the trip take you to do? I would guess a 3 day weekend, maybe?

trip took 8 hours to go up (we stopped a lot) and the trip back took 7 hours. I went from Santa Barbara --> Sacramento --> Santa Barbara

And thank you all for the comments. It was actually a nice, relaxing trip. The nice roads were just a bonus. I did absolutely no research when I left, just decided on a destination. Originally, it was a "Triple-D" trip... stopping by any places that Guy Fieri (from Food Network's Diners, Drive-ins, and dives) has stopped at. We just ended up going to eat anywhere that looked good.

Cool shit. I want to do the whole PCH from SoCal to WA at some point. And in both directions. Thing is all those cool "photo stops" impacts on the kick ass driving aspect so Id love to do it twice. Once for pics and stops and the second for just straight through, kick ass, fun driving.

Can you post the "vacant road" pic in original, untouched size plz?

Cool, I'm down if you ever gonna do it again. I've been thinking of doing a PCH cruise with Santa Barbara being on of the stop to check out, so we can meet up at your town and head on up. :beerchug2:

I made the PCH trip from San Fransisco to Long Beach in 2006. It was awsome. We had reserved a Mustang Convertible for the trip but when we go to the AVIS in San Fran, we ended up with a triple beige New Beetle Conv. It was a fun car to take on the twisties with the manu-matic transmission.

Can't wait to make that trip again.
